Just bought these, is there a guide to installing them anywhere? I know the basics but not sure on the cross overs
Yes like if you mount them in your doors do you need 2 or 4 wires running into the doors?

My thinking behind having 3-way speakers in the front I can balance them so if there is someone in the back that doesn't want loud speakers right near their head I can put more sound through the front, can't do that well with the tiny 4" speakers in the dash. They are Kenwood and not the dinky ones that came with the car originally but still only single cone.

Slee, I'm getting a sub soon and according to my step sister (the one who's getting it) she said the brand is the best in Australia, which is bull because I've never even heard of them.. The brand is RE Audio ? Anyone heard of them ? Anyway I wanted to get an Alpine sub coz all my speakers are Alpine now and so is my head unit (yet to be installed) so I wanted them all the same haha.

I think my front speakers are three way and they have built in tweeters :) but recent thing happened when I turn up my music too loud the bass sounds really.. Crappy lol but that may be coz I haven't installed my 6x9's yet lol.

Is there a template or way to make your own spacers for the parcel shelf ?

I rate RE audio  I have heard of them and actually listened to a fee of them, the hit hard from what I have seen!! But another thing to remember, you need to make sure you get an amp to match! And to be honest, all bass sounds crap to me unless its coming from a sub or some big $$$ speakers ahaha

And u <3 that huh grk2meet? ;)

Oh okay haha I've never heard of them. My step sister knows the guy who manages the Australian one so she's getting the sub and it wired in my car with an amp for $500 haha which is pretty cool :)

Re audio are pretty good, not the best but definitely up there. What is the model of the sub though?

2 way 3 way, there seems to be so much confusion as to what is what amongst a lot of members here which is not only surprising but also a little disappointing. It seems like it would take a few of us hours of going through even the basics to get you all up to speed. I would suggest visiting www.caraudio.com.au and have a browse through the forums to learn a little. If anyone is actually interested in learning more feel free to message me, I am no expert but always happy to help and pass on what I have learnt over the years.

Ahk well sort of, it's not so much the highest frequency from the front. There is a lot more to it, most basic explanation is you need splits up front as the sound stage is mostly in front of you and when you have coaxial speakers in the doors the tweeters get muffled by your legs. The tweeters need to be up high around the level of the dash as they bring the sound stage up to that point, if you have them too high it just hurts and you have lost the effectiveness. The higher the frequency the more directional the sound is as low frequency is somewhat directionless which is why you can have a sub facing any direction, only thing that changes with direction for a sub is volume.

The best method for an everyday setup that isn't to be expected to compete in sound quality is to have a 2 way passive split front stage with the tweeters at the base of the a pillars aiming towards the centre roof light. Then if you feel it required add some rear speakers in either a 6.5 inch or 6x9. Then a sub or 2 depending on your desired results in the boot.

I have what you would call a slightly better than average everyday setup which consists of 2 way splits running active up front with the tweeter positioned as mentioned above. They are running from 2 amps, 1 for tweeters and the other for woofers. These are being controlled by a processor. Then I have a single 10 inch sub in a sealed enclosure facing forward if for no other reason than I didn't want to damage it by putting something in the boot and have it roll around add also that it's a little louder facing forward so I can have it turned down a little so neither it or the amp get hot.

Sorry if some of this has gone over people's heads etc, but for a beginner I would recommend for whatever you think will work, you can only improve from there as we all need to make mistakes to learn from. But if you do want to learn from others without having to go through it all yourself then let me or some of the other members know who have more experience than just putting a couple of subs in the boot running off a 2 channel with 8 gauge wiring and I'm sure we can help in some way.

So does anyone know where to get some speak type mesh, I'll need 2 pieces about 30x30cm.

I checked Bunnings yesterday but they had nothing suitable. I've done the usual online checks but nothing and no I don't want to replace the door cards with something that already has them unless I can find some good ones at a good price, they are hard to come by.

As I said before I want to custom make a grill for my CCs doors but I want it to look professional.

Stereo Thread - questions, queries, bragging, ONLY

this question would most likely belong in your ride thread mate!

Seriously, i think the entire forum knows about your 'custom speaker grilles' by now, so much so that this is turning out to be another 'rust removal' saga.
There is no need to continually discuss or ask the same question everywhere, keep it one place (your ride thread in most cases or topic in the tech. corner for CC's), which means less clutter and bs to search through when we really need to find something!

Got your audio setup specs? then post it up here as OP suggested otherwise :shh:

It was a question!!!!

This is the "Stereo Thread - questions, queries, bragging," and it's a question about installing and making it look good, a custom grill falls into that category.

I NEVER asked where could I get some mesh before. Where else did I ask this question????????????????????????

At the risk of asking another question...

Has anyone here used Rockford Fosgate speakers/amps like you find in the current CJ Lancer?

I have used some rockford speakers and didnt mind them, i beleive it depends on what speakers/model/series they sre though

I'm currently running some Rockford punch speakers (older series) and they do ok for what they are, build quality is average/good but they are pretty durable. Are you asking strictly about the ones that Mitsubishi uses as there stock speakers? If so I'd say they'd be pretty average but that's just my assumption as I haven't actually listen to them.

If your looking at getting new speakers just work out a budget and go to your local audio shop and have a listen to the speakers in store which fit within your budget.

I've been checking out the sales but not found anything I like.
I'm open to all options as for brands but would like to keep it all Kenwood. Rockford is my 2nd option, yes mainly because they are used in the Lancer.
I've found price wise they are pretty much the same as Kenwood for similar spec.

Ideally I'm after 6/6.5 component speakers for my doors, and a sub/amp for the boot, depending on cost.
