Pod Filters vs Panel Filters for the CE Lancer

not so much when it comes to limiting filters, just replaceing them will be expensive. i think K&N do a 6" pod, but its like $180

i wouldnt bother with blox filter stacks, ur just limmiting ur filter options and making ur setup more expencive than it has to be
and its not like the extra flow will really be that much more flow than your average poddy, i can think of better ways that u could improve flow much more substancially than those filters

but if ur keen on that brand, go for it, i see no reason why it wont work if u get the correct size one
the blox filter is only ~$30ish

the filter + stack is about $60 all up

still lots less than a K&N ($100+)

Is it reusable? I don't mind K&N or BMC, my Lancer, SAAB, Ford, Ducati and Moto Guzzi all have them. The fact that it should last as long as the car speaks volumes....

$30 is cheap for a good pod, but if you have to renew it every 20,000km, then not so.

just make sure u get the right size then, and one that will suit ur application, what are ur plans for the actual intake?

i meant in terms of if its being boxed or covered - will it fit in the cover/box
and in terms of if being piped to the grill is it oiled... that sort of stuff

I must agree, although there is absolutely no evidence *(I have seen dyno of stock car using pod and my car using K&N+RA intake when stock) to say it's superior to what I am running (which looks stock).

But, if you have to look cool, pod filter really looks the business...

(pity it just sucks in hot air around the donk!)

thats why we say ur stupid if u dont have a cold air feed or enclosed or piped to the grill

+ the CE standard intake is sheet! it just sucks hot air and is quite restrictive by the looks of it, great for not aqualocking ur engine but restrictive as hell
chuck a CAI on there, whether it be a feed to the stock box or a full poddy at the bar and u will get cold air instaed of the stock hot engine bay air

so with CE's CAI-feed or full CAI is better than stock, beign pod or pannel matters not on NA car

A little off topic but I found out that the S2K actually runs a pod filter stock. I wonder if Honda does it for performance or "wank factor"? Either way, sounds good though.

hmm, nice. I think, in conjunction with a decent IAT, they really assist EMS to function correctly... why, oh why car manufacturers still rely solely on MAF?!?!

probably doesn't take much to guess why.. one MAF, versus an IAT and MAP... must purely come down to volumes and price....

k&n better results
apparently not from my googling. (blox are all the rage with the honda boys)

apparently yes, oil free too (unlike K&N)

and if you do more than 20kkm in a year, that's a small % you fall into... even $30 a year, shouldn't be a huge deal... though if you were forking out for a k&N every year... pass...

i have a K&N atm, just it's pretty old now (way over 30,000), i know they're reusable, but i dont like having a filter that was originally deep red, a faded grey colour.

just a normal CAI.

gl then, show us some pics of the final setup, im always keen to see how different ppl do theirs and why they chose how they did
oil free ones have "technically" faster flow rates, so that should be good,
but if ur doing a normal CAI piped to the front grill/bumper u are going to want and oiled pod to waterproof it better and maybe a cover just incase but not always necasarry

your setup tho, just show us pics after its done and let us kno how it goes
(fyi honda boys dont always know their sh1t, a filter is just a filter on an NA car, its the length and bends in the piping and the temp of the air that are going to make a difference, and if u can get naturally pushed in air, like a funnel)
