gl then, show us some pics of the final setup, im always keen to see how different ppl do theirs and why they chose how they did
oil free ones have "technically" faster flow rates, so that should be good,
but if ur doing a normal CAI piped to the front grill/bumper u are going to want and oiled pod to waterproof it better and maybe a cover just incase but not always necasarry

your setup tho, just show us pics after its done and let us kno how it goes
(fyi honda boys dont always know their sh1t, a filter is just a filter on an NA car, its the length and bends in the piping and the temp of the air that are going to make a difference, and if u can get naturally pushed in air, like a funnel)
all i've read is that an oil filter in the long run isn't good for MAF sensors.

i'll let you know how it goes though, all the theory behind it makes sense to my mind, reality is always different, however.

rather replace a MAF sensor than aqualocking a motor...

Never had a MAF fail, in any of my oiled filter-equipped vehicles... I think it's a scare campaign by those who make 'other-than-oiled'.

I have been running K&N filters since 1990... That also coincided with my first injected vehicle, with a MAF, no issues...

i have my oiled K&n filter close to the road, so quite a bit of water water get on it, but none goes through. and i have never had to change it for 4 years now

from experience i have had 3 oiled and 2 non oiled pods, non oiled flow better with very slightly better throttle response off idle
but i prefer oiled any way, coz once a non-oiled one is wet/damp (even from mist or small splashes), the flow rate is sooo sh1t as u can imagine

but its your choice, if u go with the blox i urge u to get a cover for it doing a CAI, and if u find flow rate is *poo* in the wet with poor throttle response u will kno i told u so

I have a dry flown (non oiled) AEM pod on the end of my CAI, and yes they become dirty and clogged up very easily. You can buy the refresh kits for them, but because the filter is paper based it looks to me it would probably do damage to it rather than cleaning it. I went for the dry filter because apparently the oil based ones can set off codes in the VW, but on consultation with my good mate whose a mechanic, he said this is only if they're over oiled, and as said causing damage to the MAF. I am going to be replacing mine when I can get to Autobarn with a Drift brand filter, dyno proven to have a better flow rate than the K&N ones, and only cost $45. Bargain!!

how does a dyno prove that the air flow rate is better. I would think u would need a gauge in the CAI to measure the air flow itself. the dyno would just show more power out put which could be cause by various things.

Hot 4's ran a test on them all.... they tested them all out with the car on the dyno

if that is the case, i would assume that if there is any truth in there results that it would encouage the high cost brands to better them selves.

Well with the cheaper ones you don't get a million mile warranty with them, so choice is the consumers. Slight gains for lower life expectancy, or longer life with slightly lesser gains

Very true, i have enjoyed forgeting about my pod and knowing its still good,

x2, my 5th pod is k&n and i have never looked back (still have it)
nothing compares in how clean they stay and how long they last

I can tell they work, the car computer shows it to be so on my guage, both MAF figures and also changes in pre- and post- AFR/fuel tabling...

simple fact, my panel filter is not all hype, it works!

there is a reason that car manufactures use panels and not pods, for the reason that they do do a better job if you have a ggod enough box and CAi setup

the other one i'm considering is a 3a, $30 supposedly, with as good filtering and better flow rate, as the K&N.

good move, cos by my guess ur pod is probably sitting sucking hot air from ur engine bay
stock box + feed to the bumper is a pretty easy and effective setup

yeah thats pretty much it haha i was looking around the garage for something i can use as a bracket to fit it to the bumper i pulled apart the standard box so its ready to go.. so i just gotta go buy a pannel filter, hose and a funnel im gonna use as a scoop :)

 who needs brackets, i used zip ties, was 100x easier to fit and cheaper than a $10 braket

well supercheap didnt have my filter in stock so ill have to wait till they get one instock so i can play around with my intake again should be this week end apparently they should have them in stock
