Samething. Only thing is you'll have to get the alt and ac/ps belt off to put them on. What i do is wedge the breaker bar between the front lca and tie rod and crank the engine for 1 sec to break the bolt loose. Then to tighten i put the car in gear and stick a screw driver in rotors through the caliper to keep the crank from turning then i tighten. Make sure u tigbtem it hard enough or your bolt will come off.

Yeah it does look pretty complicated. Anyone know how much a timing belt replacement would cost at a mechanical place? And what else is good to do at the same time?

+1 how much is it, gotta get mine done, any good places around sydney to do it?

No one's ever replaced a belt at a mechanic on this forum before lancer69. ;)

And I'm not sure if my belt was done at 100K but I friggin hope so and assume it would have snapped by now if not.

I went to a mechanic cause I CBF doing it... And I don't mind paying a guy to do it who I've known for the better part of 20years.

Most will say its easier to do it while the engine out of the car, so if your upgrading it's a prime time to do it.

But otherwise... Page 45 of the Gregory's Manual aka "The Bible"

When I got the timing belt done on my old car, they charged me $600 but also changed some pulleys and water pump at the same time...

Cool. Thanks. I think it's too risky, I'm still learning and have only just properly learnt what the timing belt does and for that reason don't want to F it up.

I need to get a copy of that "Bible" haha

Do I need a torque wrench? Is it as simple as lining up the pulleys correctly and getting the right tension. Are there markings on the pulleys to help allign everything right?

Don't need special tools. All markings are there. Get a copy of the bible and all becomes very easy
