Noticed my exhaust warped my rear, it was touching it slightly. Is it easy to put back to shape? i.e heatgun and a rubber mallet slowly?

Honestly I just wouldn't farking bother. But yes it can be manipulated with a lot of time.

What were you doing with your butt on the exhaust?

Just wanted to check that the thread for the shift knob in a CE is M10x1.25? Also, does anyone know how to remove that little ring of metal around the shifter stalk which keeps the boot up??

Take the centre console box, stero surround out. Remove the gearknob. Then remove the shifter surround and lift the lot off the top. Ring is zip tied to the gear boot.

Might be some relevant pics here.

Speaking of knobs I got one of these...

Yes I know cheap but I like the feel, that said I have noticed some have a foam cover for better grip.
Can't find any on eBay or I'm just not doing the right search, any help please?

You mean like one of these slip-on cover things?

Think I've seen that, looks like it could be a little loose.

I'm thinking something like those used in the V8 series.

Clark rubber.

If I put a dohc gsr head on the sohc 93 will there be any problems if the the camshafts are different???

The camshafts are part of the head. So if you had a DOHC head it would have DOHC camshafts in it. Unless you mean wanting to switch one or two SOHC cams into a DOHC head to replace the cams in there... in which case it A. wouldn't work and B. is stupid.

So if I chuck the gsr head on, the motor will still run healthy yeah. Are turbo camshafts different from na ones or it doesn't matter?

Yes but pending what head gasket you use it will will lower compression. GSR's run like a 8.5:1 compression and NA dohc 4g93 run like 10.5:1. So you will have bugger all power until the turbo spools up from your standard GSR motor, but that happen at around 3k rpm. Turbo dohc cams are slightly better for mid range power, NA dohc cams are better for low rpm power.

Anyone know if 4g93 and 4g93p block numbers are the same or are they different? Coz i don't want to get stuffed around when I go to register the Car. The car hasn't been registered for more than 3months and then should need for inspection I believe. And if the numbers off the block don't match up to the lancer they might get the shiitts

Same block, different numbers. You'd only have to mention that you run a dohc head. My insurance company listed my dohc swap as (engine internals). Also it won't matter as long as you register that block to that car. It's a completely legal swap.

Yeah all good. They probe won't even check the head. Just wondering if a 93p conversion could be done but coz numbers are different I guess I'll just go 93 from a lancer and just dohc swap
