Lowering springs/heights opinions.

might want to upload that image lncr8d :p.

you also don't NEED an impact wrench, I did mine without...but doing spring compressors up without one isn't the most fun thing in the world.

Thanks LNCR8D thats exactly what i was wanting to know to a T. Was thinking superlow fronts and rear lows same as yours basically rims tuck nicely. What do you mean by shortened shocks though? I envy your headlights :(

No worriez mate.. How stock shocks are made for stock springs, Shortened shocks are made for the custom springs.. So if you did get springs installed into the rear lower then maybe 2 inches, shortened shocks is da way to go.. When you lower a car you alter the position of the control mechanisms inside shock absorbers, they operate much closer to each other. So with them you have more pressure between the mechanisms, for less impact when you go over speed humps, or hard roads and dat UNLESS U wana make it feel lyk U got hydraulics goin on in yur car lol Go for the shocks..

Yeah probably not worth it atm would suit my car nicely though. Will have a search locally for some springs and shock and save up some cash. Cheers for your info mate appreciated. :D

No worriez mate, anytime :)..

seeing as funds arent flowing my way as quickly as they used to, coilovers are slightly looking out of the question so i picked up a set of KS superlows. Now iv got the knowledge on removing the shocks and springs and replacing them, but dont have spring compressors at home. i know taking the car to a mechanic and getting them to fit the new springs is a wiser option but seeing as funds are low, i was thinkin of just buying some compressors and doing it myself but i thought id get a second opinion from people with experience.. :)

cheers

so my stock shocks with king springs have finally blown out and need to be replaced.. more then likely will replace them with either KYB or Monroe struts instead of forking out cash for coilovers, but before i do just wanted to get a heads up on which brand most people would go with or already have installed and are happy with?

I have SL for front and low at rear, blue springs, think is Lovells.
Recently paid about $800 for front and rear kyb shocks installed & aligned. Was on budget, didn't get coilover. If go coilover might need extra $500? Never drive a car with coilover, can't commend on how good they are compare spring shock combo. Hope this help & good luck.

your setup worth $800, will only perform 1/3 as good as baseline coilovers which are $960 for k-sports

unless your getting the dopest shocks like bilstein and some top line springs like tein, then your only in it for cheap looks, handling gains will be minimal in comparison to what you could have got for an extra $160

Didn't want to start a new thread. None of these pics work. What's the best combo of king springs, I don't want scrape heaps on speed bumps and driveways and crap but want it to look better than stock height. Coilovers not an option for me right now.... (cars a GLi CE)

Anyone got pics of their king springs?

SL's will tuck 17" rims and be flush with 15/16" rims. Will drop you approx 5cm at both ends. Lows will do half as much so you will still have wheel gap. I sit 10cm off the ground all round after a 5-6cm drop. Haven't scraped on anything yet.

Ok thanks. Just looking at Res' avatar above and he has 16"'s yet his wheels are no where near flush..?

Since my last post Ive looked around and think I might go just lows all around.

Perfect rim width with perfect tyre size with perfect rim size with perfect ride height. 16x7 +32 I think he's running, not sure on the tyre size. 215/45/16 maybe?

17x7 not sure of offset and on Superlows at the back, sits real nice and no scrubs :)
