Lancer CE Coupe Makeover Project ! Help ?

So I'm new to this website.. And I'm a girl.. I've spent the last two hours reading a single thread about this guy who did up his coupe.

I just got my lancer two months ago. It's a 2001 CE GLi coupe with 130,000km on its clock :)

I really wanna do it up coz the only thing I've been spending my money on is my car lol. If I told you what I've done to it you'd all laugh lol. My car is a manual too btw.. 1.5L (once again, dont laugh.) I've only TEMPORARILY got chrome wheel covers because I'm waiting for my mate to get back to me on her rims she's getting rid of. Definitely want mags. I want a body kit too and people seem to be talking a lot about the MR kit ? I've also been looking for a spoiler too.. Honestly been looking for three or four weeks and haven't found a spoiler that will fit my car.. (Well at least that's what the sellers tell me..)

I have no idea what the hell a 'lip' is either...

Don't laugh at me because I have no idea what I'm doing lol but if anyone has any tips or places to get stuff from, all your help would be appreciated :)

List of what I've sort of done:
- replaced both door trims from crappy ugly patterned material to just plain navy blue.
- gear shift knob changed
- wheel covers lol
- Central locking
And that's about it haha yeah kinda sad :/

What I want to do/get:
- Halo Angel Eye Headlights
- clear side indicators
- clear chrome tail lights (altezza lights people seem to call them ?)
- spoiler (not the small ones on the newer model coupes, I want bigger)
- exhaust/muffler
- mags
- work on all the interior
- body kit
- lower the car
- power windows
- fog lights
- recaro seats
As anything else you guys will think I should do :)

Honestly any help would be like life saving coz I dunno what I'm doing an my main concerns atm are whether angel headlights are legal in NSW ? And where the HELL do I find a spoiler to fit my car ?!
 
Welcome to the forum. Looks like your in NSW, plenty of us here in Syd doing stuff all the time.

Looks like you got lots of plans, first off you need to decide what you want out of it, then take it in the direction you want to go.
Are you after neat and inconspicuous, an out there and loud rice box ? Im leaning more toward rice box at the moment, so you might need to befriend Rigby

- exhaust/muffler - I'd leave till you decide what your doing with your engine, but I've got a 2.25 on mine 1.5.
- mags - Most of us have 15's or 16's, but its all personal taste.
- work on all the interior - You could do a MR upgrade for cheap, or spend thousands at a auto trimmer.
- body kit - once again, you could do a MR upgrade for cheap, or spend thousands.
- lower the car - Most of us here use coilovers, if you were to go out and buy new shocks & springs, coilovers are only a few hundred more and totally worth it. See HENS our forum sponsor. He can do custom spring rates.
- power windows - comes with a MR upgrade.
- fog lights - comes with a MR upgrade.
- recaro seats - You'd want to get either Evo 4 - 6 Recaros, direct bolt in, or CC GSR seats.

As anything else you guys will think I should do - Brakes, good brakes are worth it. We have a brake thread stickied in this section.
I mentioned the MR upgrade a few times. Best thing you can do, check out Pickles Auctions, wait for a manual Lancer MR to come up, win it.
It'll have all the power options you want, factory body kit, a 1.8L engine upgrade when you get sick of the 1.5's lack of power.
You could probably get one delivered to your door for under for much less than some of the parts alone and have all you need.
A few of us have done it here, No regrets :thumbup:

Welcome and don't worry that you don't know about some things, you'll learn a bunch on here. It's great to have another girl in the mix and I'm sure the fellas will be happy to answer your queries, just like ARC has done. You're obviously keen, posting at 4 am, so it'll be great to see a ride thread at some stage to watch your progress. That's very low ks on your car, barely run in lol. Did a granny own it?

Lol. Yeah if you need bodykit/spoiler/rice advice, I'm your man. Basically anything you can think of putting on your car that is flashy, noticeable and outlandish, I've either already done it or thought about doing it. Send me an inbox message/PM if you have any questions.

I definitely recommend reading through a lot of builds. Some great inspiration here and lots of info when in need of DIY's, parts etc.

Okay those DIY headlights, very nice, what's the price for doing all that though ?
Rigby, you're into flashy stuff ? I like you already :p mainly I just want a spoiler for my car lol any models to recommend which will fit my baby ? :)

Not sure who was the first owner of my car lol I know the second owner was a kiwi and he got rid of it coz his partner got a new model (2004 I think)

I have someone offering me 15" mags for $500, tires as well ?

With the MR interior kit, what does that do ? Like what does it change ?

I went to pick n Payless the other day and 'scavenged' some new door trim out of a mirage to replace my crappy material pattern, which was fun changing in itself lol.

My Mate was saying to respray to a pearl essent ? Would anyone recommend this ?
And also, thinking about changin the side mirrors and windscreen wipers to something more pretty ? Suggestions ?

Yes I'm very keen as I spent 4 hours in the middle of the night scoping through posts on this site and finally made my own lol. How do I post a ride thread ? Lol I'm posting from my phone so yeah it's harder I guess lol

Oh also. I'm planning on getting white dials and blue LED bulbs for my speedo (I don't want my car to be themed with blue lights but I can't find any one who makes orange neons which sucks so I guess blue it is lol)

Also getting a new steering wheel soon but I hve to wait because it's my 18th in two weeks and my dad wants to buy me stuff for my car so he said not to buy anything like stereos etc.

Anyway thanks again everyone for your help ! On my days off work I'll spend more time focusing on making a ride thread r whatever you all think I should do :)

You can see its got rear pods, side skirts, front bar with lip and fog lights.
Colour coded mirrors, door handles, lots of goodies.

Hey Brittany :) , well you have a good clean straight base there to work with! Did you do the door trims yourself? Apart from what you've already stated (body kit,mags,exhaust) for a quick and effective mod I would colour code the handles and mirrors, it will clean the appearance and make the car look newer also I'd go a cold air intake and maybe the Mr interior aswell ,not that it essential but its a more sporty lookin interior with electric windows and stuff ;) also some colour coding in side the car if you want orange or white? You can easily paint the vents, a/c controls and the cluster piece that separates the dials as I did in mine. Looks hot! Still on the paint subject, little touches like painting brake calipers and the rocker cover headlight bezels etc. Are easy as mods and for the sake of a can of good paint the effect can be rather striking and look ricey as fk too. Um some projector retrofit headlights would look sick as on the white
I know HMHAMz had a set of clear altezzas for cheap, but I guess it depends if you need kinked or unkinked ( according to what boot you have) and EVO options are ricey as fk too like wide body and bonnets/roof vents or fins. As others have said its really upto you what your trying to achieve whether is a subtle MR look or a riced out racer look dropped on its ass with 17" s and a droid kit or something
Have a think of what you want the overall look to be so when your building your ride its not mismatched
 
Nice work on the door trims, I'm in the process of fixing mine up. I see you plan on powering you windows just put in power windows/mirrors in my CC coupe, lots of work but well worth it. Not sure if your CE would come with the dash or door wires in place so the first step is to find out, maybe take the door cards off and have a look. Then hit the wrecker and Gum Tree to get what you need. The hardest part for me was getting the wires in the door in the right places, took me a whole day to get them and the regulators in.

The best plan for any car mods are to have a list, do what you can afford or needs fixing and just enjoy the challenge of DIY. The most rewarding part is when the plan comes together and things work.
 
Personaly about ur friends suggestion always keep in mind u want ur car 2 b ur car and what u do 2 it u need 2 b happy with :) people will always give u great advice and options but do ur own research and b sure of ur choices so ur happy with it and 15" rims should cost that brand new as mine did i think it was $750-$800 4 my rim and tyre package so look around first! Brand new beats 2nds hands down good luk uve got a nice ride there.

And the guys on this site are all excellent experienced people to brain storm facts and figures and prospects so use them as they are more than happy 2 help.

I have orange LED 'neons' that I used previously in my footwells that I'm not using anymore.

I got set of second hand CG Lancer VRX wheels for $300... I think, might have been less. :think:
Not new of course, but the tyres were good, lasted me about 12-18 months.

halo angel projectors are better to be done yourself or by a friend that has done that sort of thing before.
bodykit - carmate.com.au would probably be best place
power windows can be pulled out of a "MR" wreck
foglights can be bought from ebay i believe
exhaust is better to go to a exhaust place but if your putting a aftermarket bodykit on it then wait til after the bodykit is done
clear side indicators/altezza lights can be bought from ebay and i believe most car part shops
im pretty sure theres a version of the CE that came out with recaro seats, hunt it down :)
to lower the car, its better to get coilovers or lowered springs(dont try and cut the springs)
spoiler, any evo4/5/6/7 wing will fit on the car
i had a evo6 wing on my old lancer which was smaller haha
if your going to go aftermarket bodykit, i suggest leave mags til last aswell as they might not suit the bodykit/car when its finished :)
