Good price for exhaust?

So sick of just seeing the whole lancer + p plates + cannon only set up's around my area.

Something subtle not too over the top would be good. Sports exhaust or twin tip? :)

quoted this out of maddisons old thread

if you havn't had your exhaust done try truflow in sunbury. they were the cheapest i found and the bloke actually spoke english properly. think his name was ben.

had mine done by them from cat-back(2") with a redback muffler. Sounds great to me and no drone on the freeway :). was 260 with a small round tip or 290 with the oval one i chose

Thanks for that link man.

Yeah I don't know, I had a twin muffler on my old Prelude.
I guess I just like the look of a cannon

It would be a subtle 3" haha

Thanks guys :)

Yeah I've heard some good things about them magnaflows.

Anyway, I (well, my mate) ended up finding a place right here in Thomastown that does exhaust systems relatively cheap.
Called them up, the guy on the other end said it would not cost more than $280 for a full catback + cannon/sports muffler.
So I got it booked in for 10:00am Thursday (which is also my brother's birthday, zzzz @ shopping lol).

I'll update this thread around then with a vid of before the install and after.
Kinda excited as it's the first real "mod" I'm going to do to my car (aside from head unit/speakers etc).

Goodluck. Cat was like my 4th mod I did and when I told the guy to turn my car on and step on the accelerator my face went like :D

I would hope so. With the way some people do up their Lancers, it's not unimaginable that some people might think that!

a slight freer flow generally means slight performance gains... a wholly free-flowing exhaust does not necessarily mean massive gains, it can actually be a loss. More noise, yes, but slower car...

Be warned, most cars with cannons do not actually go faster! It's a fairly precise science...

Haha I really doubt a muffler can have any performance effect on a car!
actually it can :p
mine has a few leaks which are causing alot of sluggish take off and response :p

Pretty misguided pal.. do you think they whack the same rubbish exhaust on the HSV, from the Omega?! Or, the FPV gets the same as the Futura!? NO!!

But, arbitrarily fitting just a cannon does little to performance... it's 'do the whole thing', or just accept that you're making more noise only...

x2, choice of components to suit a specific purpose is important

would a turbo car run well with a 1.5" inlet and outlet muffler? even if it was a straight thru it would not flow fast enuf
similarly putting a 3" inlet and outlet on an NA would drone

different metal/size/shapes/brands of muffler create different types of sound and performance if chosen correctly for your application

Haha, deleted my post cos it was "wrong" :(

So a muffler can actually INCREASE performance alone? I thought it would just make more noise. Then again, I did say I was a noob to all things car :D

If you have the appropriately fitted; CAI, extractors, optimised mid-pipe/catalytic converter and axle-back muffler... I could suggest you might see 5-10kw, tops.
