Hi Guys, Im 'contemplating' going down the road of an engine swap, so i thought if it ever eventuates that i should keep a record of all the emails and pricing and pics and everything i come across so that if anyone else on the site / nets wants to do it - they know what theyll have to go through

This first bit is an email i got from Luis Lovero who's @ NSW and does engine swaps for Mitsubishi's,

Hi Julian,

How are you? I am very sorry for the late reply, I have been busy these past
few weeks I have a lot of conversions and engines to build during this time
of the year.

Yes I know Dan, he is one of my loyal customers in NSW.

Anyways in your situation since you have a 4g15 you have three options:-

4G15 DOHC conversion bolt on to your current block

4G93 DOCH conversion this you will need a few extra items such as 4G93 SOHC
engine, brackets, engine and interior loom.

4G94 DOHC conversion ""same as above""

What I can do is build the engine here, in my opinion just go for a
completely rebuilt 4G15 DOHC all you will require to do is remove your old
engine and slap the new one we send out to you. You will save 150-200 if you
give us your old block for trade in.

However if you want a 4G9X engine I can do the same I can build the engine
here and send it out however you will need to rewire the car as well, not
hard but if you are not confident then I suggest you get someone to do it.
All connectors just plug in one way although it can get confusing, let me
know what your decision is.

Yes we do turbo 4G93 engine as well

Kind regards,
Luis Lovero

Subject: Engine Conversion 4G15 > 4G93

Hi Luie,

I was referred to you from a friend on Auslancer.com 'dan aka D3ZIR3', I
have a 1996 CE lancer 1.5l SOHC 4g15 motor and was looking at how much
it would cost to put the 1.8l 4G93 DOHC into the car? I live in South
Australia so don't know when i'll be able to get to NSW to do the
conversion but right now im more so just looking for a quote!,
also....can you do a 4g93 DOHC Turbo conversion to the lancer ? how much
would that cost?

Cheers in advanced,

Julian G aka Drakos

One question which i wanna put to you tech heads on here - i was looking on wikipedia at the different 4Gxx engines

4G93 DOHC 16 Valve

* Total Displacement - 1834cc
* Bore - 81.0mm
* Stroke - 89.0mm
* Compression Ratio - 12:1
* Maximum Output - 96 kW (131 PS; 129 bhp) / 103 kW (140 PS; 138 bhp) @ 6,000 rpm
* Maximum Torque - 177 N·m (131 ft·lbf) @ 3,750 rpm / 181 N·m (133 ft·lbf) @ 3,500 rpm

4G94

The 4G94 is a 2.0 L version built in Japan, used in the Mitsubishi Lancer. Bore is 81.5 mm and stroke is 95.8 mm, with a compression ratio of 9.5:1. Output is 89 kW (121 PS; 119 bhp) at 5500 rpm with 176 N·m (130 ft·lbf) of torque at 4250 rpm. It has a cast iron engine block with MPFI (fuel injection) and an aluminum SOHC cylinder head with forged steel connecting rods and four valves per cylinder.

Why is it that the 1.8l puts out more? is it because of DOHC's or what?

I would suggest that would be the reason.

Did you get the price for 4g93 DOHC?

I've sent off a response to his email which asked for prices:

No problems with the late reply Luis!,

I would much rather go down the 4G93 DOHC, 4G94 DOHC route as the 4g15 i currently have - even with the SRI, extractors n exhaust mods - there's still just not enough get up n go for my liking.

Would you be able to price up how much it would cost you to get me a 4g94 DOHC and a 4g93 DOHC engine, also would this include all the other stuff i need to use these engines like ecu, wiring looms, piping, clutch etc etc etc?

In regards to the wiring, would it be possible for you to install the engine if i were to come to QLD - that way can save on freight and all that?

Be great if u could gimme a rough price to have the new engine(s) installed and all up and working for me so i know how much i would need to save up to do the conversion before i come across to NSW, as for my old engine, i see no reason why you cant have it!

Cheers!, Julian

I was just thinking then and i think i might keep the car N/A , that way i can keep the cops off my back by saying its the stock engine ....if they see a turbo hangin off the engine (4g93T DOHC) its gonna be straight to regency to get road worthiness n stuff -_-

have spoken to him befor and it is bout 2k++ for DOHC 4g93, good base and limited numbers of them round

yeh i think the 4g93 would be my first choice - would that 2 grand be installed though?

cant remember but dont think so, was in 2008 i was lookin at it

Have you done research with Loui's company?

Have you seen how many troubles a member off MCA/MLGA has had with this guy? And why hes no longer a sponsor on MLGA?

If your seriously thinking of goin with LLT Racing. take my advice and contact Marc or JB from MLGA.

Dodgy as loui is.

I dont think you know that much. As for the whole MLGA, luie pretty much said that he no longer wanted to be apart of MLGA.

With my deals with Luie, have been great.

As to Curlay86 comments, he is right. Its a off proton engine 4G93p head. I think I would move to the 1.8 SOHC wiring it up, and later move to the 1.8 DOHC head. Changing over to the 1.8 SOHC can be done pretty cheap nowadays.

Let me know what luie's quote is.

i got a 4g15 dohc conversion last year from luie.i havent had any problems with it so far.in my opinion luie does good work,considering its done in a back yard but is very unreliable.there is always delays and excuses.even ordering parts from him turns into a long and headache filled experience.in regards to the mlga thing,there are 2 sides to every story.i think the issue with mel's 4g94 conversion helped that.

im not writing this post to hurt or defame luie in any way,im just stating my experience with him.

Yes, I was going to state that, about mel's 94 conversion. And heard that she had problems. Ive never brought any engine conversions from luie, but I have brought parts and had no issues. I knew lance had no issues with his DOHC conversion and still running fine??

As to MLGA, we all know the mods are all mates and they stick together. They had issues with me and decided to remove me from the site, They were my mates when they heard I was doing a whole engine conversion and wanted to know everything, and after that they think im a burden on the site and spam the place with false information and causing fights.

All I can say is MLGA is 2 faced.

/Rant.

+1 to all above -_- although the SA section wasnt too bad - it was kinda plagued by weeks waiting for a response to posts n i dunno - ....MCA was better *cough*

I had a 4g93 in my CH.

They are gutless. I would steer clear.

If you're going to do a conversion you might as well get a turbo engine.

I think he means 4g94 in his CH, they dont come in 4g93

I'd be looking at a DOHC 93 is your after bang for buck, that was EVO GSR bits bolt straight on

Yeah sorry 4g94. Either way it was a slug.

Also keep it on topic and try not to slander peoples companies and other forums. Can't everyone just get along ;)
