ohhh 20.. should look good mate :p was just thinking of the typical herrasunk lancer stance

paul i mean why waste money on performance tyres on a stock lancer that is only going to drive on the road.. Im trying out ku36s on the nissan because im too broke to afford the RSRs in that size

lemme know how you like em. thinkin of getting 36's on my next set of 18s

Soz for thread revive,
just curious as to what the numbers are
say its a 205/40/16
that would be width/tyre wall height/tyre diameter?
or am i getting that wrong

Close,

Its [Tire Width (mm)]/[Percentage of Tire Wall Height to Tire Width (% or mm/mm)]/[Rim Size (Inches)]

sweet thanks :)
so say for the tyre wall height/tyre width... the bigger the number the lower the profile?

Nope, lower the number the lower the profile,

If the Tire width is 205, which or more or less to suit a 7inch wide rim. And it has a 40 profile. the height will be 40% of 205.

So the height is roughly 80mm.

If it has a profile of 60, then the height is 60% of 205 which is 123mm

EDIT, if your choosing rubber to go on a rim, keep in mind that keeping the same profile but getting wider/narrower rubber will not mean that you tire is the same height, as the width is changing, and so you height will change by the profile factor of your width.

any reccomendations on tyre size that would fill out my wheel arches??
i currently have 205/45/16
but it has a good inch between the tyre and the arch
just go up another inch on the rim size??

If you go up on the rim size, you want a lower profile. You don't want to just put bigger rubber on otherwise your gearing will be out.

What is it you are trying to achieve??

Here's something for you. Supercats. I have them on my lancer and they would look sick streched

im sitting on kingsping superlows as is, if i go lower it'll be obviously illegal ><

im going for 16x8 then?

LOL its up to you man, you know what you want not me, I know nothing about JDM, nor do i care much, I know wat i like.

Henry was running 15x8s with dish on green mirage, and i reckon it looked sick, but yer, just look on the web for pics and choose your size from there.

just trying to work out what id need to fill the gap is all, and i assumed you might know, but yea, thanks anyway :)

ok dont be offended by the following.

but what you're trying to achieve is not 'cheap'

and if you're worried about the height being illegal, then give up now, cause you'll need to go another 10mm lower minimum. tyre stretching is illegal too. so now you hav two possible defects.

to do so though:
you're going to need new rims 16x8 is fine, but then it comes down to offset.
current tyres will do, but the rims will hav to be 16's
as you tires will be close to the guards they'll hav to be rolled flat and possible flared.
now cause your tires are close to the guards, you need to get coilovers. stiff ones.

so thats it. look at liliandonki's mirage or johns coupe. both low with good fitment. john's will be even better soonish

oh shucks paulie, lol

just to make even clearer, when paul said you might need to flare i think he ment more of a gaurd pump not bolt on flares
