Hi all.

Just curious what transmissions AusLancer members run on their Lancers/Mirages though I know alot of guys here have Manual. I guess theres only one way to find out so cast your vote in this poll.

Few simple definitions so everyones on the same page here:..
- Manual: transmission with physical driver-operated clutch pedal
- Automatic: transmission that has no physical clutch pedal but may allow for manual gear changes. It includes CVT, tiptronic.. etc.

You may only vote once so choose your daily drive if you own more than one Lancer/Mirage.

Onto my second manual car for a daily, i don't have an issue with it.

I drove an auto for about 2 weeks (toyota camry) and i didn't really like it.

I drive manual, but of recent, iv been driving the work cars, and auto just seems more cruiseier, and im starting to like it

I have two words: carefree driving.

haha yeah auto is definetly..

...cruiseier...

But if your having a really sh*t day you'd want to drive a manual, just lead foot and clutch all the way. Maybe the brakes might help too...you know just casually steer you out of a disaster perhaps

manual, i dont really like the driving feel of auto as a personal preferance
love the feeling of shifting gears and feeling the gears, clutch and flywheel meshing

i heel toe everywhere. driving manual is so much more fun. when i'm cruising on the freeway and i need to accelerate i'll downshift to 3rd and floor it. with auto you have to let it shift down for you and it takes a while. i hate not having control of what gear the car is in.

manual4lyf

I can't wait to get my tiptronic fixed then its time for me to experience the best of both worlds....kinda. ;)

It may be cruisier driving auto but I love the rawness of a manual, I don't like the feel of having the auto box between my foot and the road. And since driving with Jazza who introduced me to heel-toe shifting, double clutch down shifting, etc etc, the experience has been even better! The feeling when you downshift with a perfect rev match and boot it is awesome :p
But then again, I've only been driving for 18 months or so and I may get bored of manual and go cruisey later on. Although I don't see that happening, I doubt I'll ever own an auto in my life!

Well you said it here on AusLancer. Let's see if it holds up.

Manual all the way for small cars, I can live with an auto in big cars, specially behind a V8
The only auto I've ever liked is in the Mrs Falcon, love that ZF 6 Speed

Yeah, Manual for the win. The fact you have full control over everything and can get that real lower gear boost when you accelerate.

Gotta say manual my first car was auto it got written off when my next door neighbour ran into bought a manual mirage never turning back.

Triptronic/sport shift etc etc is not shifting and are bs words used instead of plain old auto.
Auto in a 4cyl is *poo* , in v6 or v8 like the family boat is good but 4cyl geez how painful.
And when people keep saying they cant be bothered moving there left foot a few inches to drive a manual, I call bs . Those that can do and those who cant....well cant.

auto is boring and I think it would put me to asleep.
manual or nothing. hope to never own an auto.

Manual for sure.
Nissan NXR was manual with a button clutch
Mitsubishi Lancer is manual but stock (daily)
HSV Clubsport manual with a custom HD clutch

dont worry magnats it does happen. I know manual keeps you engaged with the road and all but I can never drive a manual as a daily; maybe as a second car then yes.

Dont get me wrong there are times when driving I wish owned a manual as the boredom really sinks when driving auto however not always. ;)
