Modified Ralliart Lancers

So who out there has a Ralliart Lancer and what have you done performance wise to it so far and what to you plan to do to it in the future?

I haven't done anything yet but I'd like to do a retune, bigger turbo, new exhaust and bigger intercooler are some of the main things I'd like to do to mine.

In the process of buying a new K&N Air filter or some other after market filter. A new cat back or turbo back exhaust would be nice, and some new wheels would finish my project for a while. Some decals on the side of the car would also go down a treat. Come to think of it, some new Recaro's, HID's, LED tail lights, Evo spoiler.....might just call it "The Warriors Laundry List"

Whatever you do steer clear of MRT and their ECU tunes. From reading of another forums member's experiences getting his RA tuned there, they are absolutely useless and the non-sense excuses they are giving for why the car running their tune is a joke!!

Go the HKS Super Hybrid filter Superintendent, absolutely no oiling required (you just turf it and buy a new one at the same intervals the log book says to) and at $60-75 on eBay they aren't bad considering a normal Wesfil (ie. Ryco) one for the CJ costs $30... (all CJ models use the same size filter including Evo X)

I think you'll find with a better intercooler, exhaust, intake and a retune you won't even need to bother with the bigger turbo. If you did want the bigger turbo then you'll need to look at increasing the strength of the TC-SST gearbox I am led to believe and this is gonna be near impossible and costly at this stage because you would be having to get parts custom made as I'm yet to see aftermarket geat for sale to do this...

Oh and only way you're getting Recaro's is buying them off Mitsubishi or finding a stripped down or wrecked Evo X due to needing the side airbags....

pfft rip the old ones out n put in some custom racing bucket seats :p dont worry about the airbags lol - increases weight -_- lol

Also majorly illegal!! Plus without airbags connected the car will constantly spit out a service airbags warning on the screen and you'll have a little dash light lit up aswell!!

well pull the guage cluster out n take the bulb out ...or is that on the lcd screen -_- grrrrr lol ok pull the screen apart and get some black paint n paint over the part of the screen it appears on or what ever.....and hey presto .....or erm...theres gotta be a way to trick the car into thinking theres an airbag there lol ...just keep grounding cables till it goes away or something :p

Yeah I've been hearing a few bad things about MRT's work of late which is disappointed considering they were suppose to be a good shop.
I'm proberly gonna sway more to maybe going to TMR sometime in the future unless I find a very good shop somewhere close by.

Pulse racings tuner is supposed to be ace when it comes to Mitsubishis. Whether or
not he has experience yet with a 4B11T motor is a whole different matter...

I've seen a red Ralliart get around in my area with a PULSE RACING sticker on the rear window.

Worth giving them a call at least. :)

Yeah, am in the middle of ordering the HKS air filter. Costs $62 including shipping from Nengum in Japan. Found out the price of the Recaros from Mitsu. When they told me I went  . A few members on Evo Oz have had problems after 6 months with the high flow cat that MRT installs in the XB and XC kit throwing constant warning lights. Every time they need the code read, they have to go back and costs $150 (no B.S - thats what they charge) to clear them. Not worth the money when there are other places that don't brain wash customers on the "Factory Warranty B.S"

You know what the irony in that is, a OBDII code reader only costs $140 from Jaycar and I can vouch for it pulling the P420 Catalyst underefficiency error code and it can clear the code and warning light successfully (although it'll just inevitably return a short time later regardless of what machine you use to clear the code). My code is because of my headers interferring with the O2 sensor readings, making the ECU think the Cat is rooted
As you say so much for that "factory warranty".....

Oh, just checked my order. Its the Blitz Panel filter (blue, no oil) not the HKS
Don't know much about tuning the ECU. I do know that the Evo 10 ECU has things in it that the Ralliart doesn't and wouldn't use. So as for a specific upgrade that has been made directly for the RA, I haven't heard of any. :(

The Blitz is a cotton one yeah?

HKS is a foam one with three different density layers. I'd be curious to know which is better both performance and filtration wise!

All the CJ N/A models can have their ECU ROMs remapped and then flashed back onto the ECU using OpenECU and adjustments like timing, fuel, drive-by-wire throttle response tweaked, RPM fuel cuts lifted, etc. As for diagnostic codes I would imagine that you could find the part of the ROM that is responsible and block out the P420 catalyst code, but no one has done that yet that I know of. MRT I believe are using propeitary ECU-TEK to reflash the RA's and not the open-source OpenECU platform...

The blitz one is blue and looks like the same material as the K&N. That foam HKS one is green and looks like they chopped up an old foam mattress. Might find a pic.....hold on...

I simply couldn't be bothered mucking around with the cleaner and oil,etc...

Plus from what I've heard you have to be careful you don't over-oil them otherwise it can cause issues with the MAF. One member had a drama with the MAF dieing on their CJ Lancer which had a K&N air filter fitted and on MCA a member with a 380 had problems. Whether or not it was co-incidence I dont know, but the thing is the only CJ I've heard of having MAF troubles was this one which had the K&N fitted...
