How do u wash your car?

Probably cause we dont get much of it and you need to drive around in it to get the car wet.
Nsw does nothing but rain.
Vic gets rain (wash) snow (wax) sun (shammy) in the same day

Dont clean your wheels last! Always first, why would you wash your car then wash your wheels leaving possibility of brake dust, dirt, grime and the splash back of water back onto the paint allowing to dry to water spots? Always wheels first boys.

Edit - If you are washing your car with suds and doing the wheels while the suds are on the car, your paint is going to hate you haha.

Nu Finish makes sends shivers down the spine, spend the money for good quality stuff.

Again, do what you think is best.. I guess theres a reason why im in business :p

Lol. Because they're not detailers. That's why do the wheels last. Just make sure you rinse off anything that spatters onto the rest your car. Then shammy. Not a hard concept, people don't care as much when it's not their income.

True, nu-finish does leave white marks on plastic, easy wipe off though!
Hi wagonmaster, Found new polymer polish ,wipe on with as little as possible and 15 minutes later wipe off. Better (magic) mirror finish no white marks on plastic. Zaino 2 pro only sold through their own distributers
look up Zaino on the internet. there's one in each state. Product designed for show cars I believe! Price I think was $28 approx. plus postage.

Have only used it on the roof and spoiler of my car so far as a trial, because I only recently used Nu Finnish on the whole car and was amazed by the difference, ease of application and brilliant mirror finish

Used the Zaino 2 pro mentioned in next post down. Its easier to put on and wipe over than the old Meguiar's Wet Look, (polymer now not available in Australia) doesn't affect plastic it touches
and finishes up even shinier. Far as I'm concerned, leaves Nu Finnish for dead.

Yeah not a fan of nu Finnish, that Zaino stuff is decent. Another good One off the shelf is Auto Gylmn wax. It's a white tub with red top, really nice feel and results. User friendly also

Not a great fan of wax prefer to use polymer sealers three or four times a year. Wax maybe once a year covered with polymer sealants. Most waxes have a mild abrasive effect ware as polymer sealant doesn't.
Only polymer sealant available from general outlets ie: Autobahn, Super Cheap etc: appears to be Nu Finnish.

Meguiar's do still produce a polymer sealant, which was WetLook, now marketed under different label but Australian distributer told me they do not import it.
There are many other brands of polymer and more recently introduced acrylic sealants available from specialist outlets. Mainly used on show cars and the like and some top end car dealers.
Be interesting to hear from anyone who can shed some light on these or of their experiences, having used some.

For wash spray or any dirt coming off the wheels to reach the paint on your car it would have to ricochet off something. What is the good quality stuff you speak of?
Unfortunately since the Australian distributors of Meguiars appear to have decided not to market their excellent polymer sealant we are now left
with Nu Finnish being the only polymer sealant available from general retail outlets ie: Autobahn, Super Cheap etc: The only alternative appears to be
specialist outlets. I now use Zain 2 Pro awkward to get but Wow results.

Confer with next post down.

In regards to washing the wheels, I ment if you are to wash the wheels while washing the paint itself at the same time you could cause fine dust from the brakes to scratch/ marr the paint

Good quality products? Theres a fair few - for the average person most stuff from Gold Class Meguiars is actually pretty decent stuff, if we run out of our usual washing stuff we tend to use that as a worse case scenario because it still washes pretty nicely. Because we snow foam, we look for the foamiest stuff so that's why we don't generally use off the shelf products from places like Autobahn etc. We were actually quite impressed with their spray wax, it does a pretty decent job actually.

In my opinion, if you want a decent sealant that will do the job for 6/12 months depending on how you take care of it, a lot of Chemical guys stuff like BlackLight and Jetseal tend to do quite a nice job, you can buy from their online Australian store which means fairly decent delivery times.

It depends on the quality of wax and what you are looking for. For example some wax's have hydro effects which will cause it to absorb some amounts of water, where as the more dedicated show wax can be less hydro and more shine/gloss, depends on what you are looking for really. We use L&B range of wax's (adelaide based, only one) and his stuff is incredible, its been put on the pedistool of SwissVax and the like, Omni (which is the show car wax) is around the 81% mark. We apply generally every 3 or 4 washes depending on what we see fit.

Hi Luftfolie, You and Hugh-CE obviously have a far greater knowledge and expertise than me in this department. However like most of us, if we get onto something that really works, we stick to it.
I have used Meguiar's Wet Look for around half a century when it was a polymer sealant, its now a wax. While they still produce two variants of polymer sealant under their Gold Class label.
I rang Meguiar's Australian distributer and was told they don't import it.

Used the Wet Look polymer sealant over 16 years and 260,000km on an Australian built Skyline and the paint was still as good as the day I bought it, new. Did rarely give it an occasional wax.
Would consider returning to it if it came back on the market through regular retailers. Although, now have used Zaino 2 pro and am amazed with the results. One year old CJ Lancer.
Fantastic, super duper shine, using so little Zaino, "Less is Better" and so easy to apply, virtually just wipe on and wipe off after 15 minuets or so. Doesn't leave plastic that is touched, marked and doesn't harm it.
No idea of long term benefits here, although proven long term benefits with Meguiar's polymer sealant! Note a few privateers offering the Gold Class polymer in Aus at wondrous prices.
Have you had any feed back on Zaino?

Cant say we have used Zaino because we've used professional grade stuff so we haven't have a look at much off the shelf stuff apart from Gold Class etc.
If I were you, go buy a bottle of Jetseal or BlackLight (depending on how long you want a sealant for, Jetseal is 12 months and 6 months for BlackLight), from memory it isn't super expensive. Those two sealants are both roughly around the 15 minute set time as well and wipe off like butter with no issue.
The wax we use is incredible in department of applying it, its a applicated wax so its not a spray and its instant wipe on wipe off type deal and can be layered - infact we layered a car of ours with it and it looked like it was completely drenched in water, also adding to that the beading is incredible on it and incredible on the Jetseal/ BlackLight.
Here is an example of BlackLight -

Went out in the rain day before yesterday and results easily equal your photo, possibly even a bit more equal to each other in droplet size.

Most wax's/sealants will do that to a certain extent.. Its more about the sheeting of water, if we spray water on the car from a hose it will literally dry itself, but when its getting sprinkled on it does that etc.

Know what you mean but it was only a light shower and I didn't use wax, just Zaino 2 pro, polymer sealant.

Wax vs polymer is just a depend what you're after situation. When I'm detailing I'm going for maximum pop so I always use carnauba and to be fair a decent carnauba will last 2-3 months. (When I say decent I mean like industry topper) we use polymer on the fast washes as it's faster easier and 'seals' better. It depends what you want out of it, whether you always want the shiniest or you want shine but mostly protection. As polymers can last months on end. I just feel like the wax is a more substantial barrier and regularly applied builds layer on layer which is better resistant to bird *poo* IMO.
I mostly deal in European paints though which are very soft and unforgiving and carnauba is often a better option when applied properly and not rubbed off roughly leaving the marks you spoke about earlier. As our climate is very different to what they were designed for. They weren't made to deal with hyper acidic bird crap splatted onto 50deg surfaces.

At the end of the day, it really, really doesn't matter what you use as long as it's regularly enough to protect it. Comparison is fun but it's 100% subjective to your own experience. Every detailer / enthusiast will swear by their product. It's how it should be haha
