Front and rear stock speaker sizes?

the 2x smaller ones are splits and pending what kind of car you got may not be stock?

Oh and with headunits... (prob a simple question)

The more expensive headunits are totally useless when you have an amp right? Because the amp takes over?
soo the headunit is purely just for looks and inputs?

as ryan said it depends on what you want to conect to,
but also look at RCA outputs, 1 min if you only want to run a sub 2x if you want a second amp/ channel for speakers/subs(must have "high pass filter" for speakers)

What is the stock speaker size in the ce front doors and the parcle shelf? I would like to change them and keep the stock look.

without actualy pulling mine out yet, but having a look at the rear ones i would say 6inch.

With my headunit, I use my inbuilt amp for the 2 lots of rear 6"s then I have 3 RCA outputs (sub, rear and front), in which all 3 are used. So ~$300 will get you a good looking unit, bluetooth, USB/Aux/iPod intergration, and be able to support a multi amp and speaker unit.

About the DIY, I'm pretty sure MCM did a vid or two on how to install subwoofas and headunits etc.

How accurate is this? :/

I'm just trying to get an idea of what connects to what

:S RCA?

RCA outputs are kinda like audio visual cables red/white (dvd player ect)

heres a pic to kinda explain, the wiring and why you best suited for a mono for your sub and another for your speakers "with out robbing paul to pay peter".

please excuse the roughness of this,

please excuse the roughness of this,
haha you didn't see my diagram done in paint? :/

hmm ok so the power comes from the Battery (Red cable)... Signal comes from the headunit... Earth is connected to a piece of metal somewhere in the boot... Bridge goes to the sub.... and the back speakers connect up as shown in diagram... and the LHF and RHF are connected to the headunit??

Sorry I bet you've gone through this a million times before... Got to start somewhere though right? :p

It depends, if you're going to run splits, have the Front run off the sub, if you're going to run coxials all the way round then you could just get away with a monoblock, again, if you running 6x9's and splits then a 4channel amp will do, if you're wanting to run a sub, splits and 6.5's in rear, then you can get away with a 4channel, bridging channels 1 and 2 and using 3 and 4 to power the splits.

yeah you got it spot on!
but if you want your fronts amp'd you want a 4ch or a 2ch that can put out enough power to run 2 speakers per output,
instead of running one neg/pos to one speaker you would run lhr and lhf wires to the same point, (i wouldnt splice into the wires, just run a second one)
the reason for the bridge is to get 2x output power, ie: its a 1400w 4ch amp, each output is 350w (if my math is correct) you need lets say 600w-700w for your sub. so you use two outputs doubling your power (this isnt the exact correct terms but a rough explination) and then you can run 2x 125w speakers per each avail output, 2x lh and 2xrh

Hi guys, just wondering how hard it would be to install front speakers into my '99 lancer coupe, also how would i do this.

Also what would be the best size speakers to install

Yeah ok, i had a look today and theres an infinity system in the car but the drier side one makes a bad rattle the louder it gets. Do these lancers come standard with rear speakers also....?

It's easy to remove the door trim on these cars.. Take it off and check that it's screwed in properly. It could be a dodgy job with like 2 screws or something.

Replacing speakers is as easy as removing the speak from the door and installing the new ones. I put 6" in the front cause they are fine for music. 6.5" are better for a good bass note.

Also the standard wire should be fine for mounting the speakers to.

6' all round is the safe bet. you can fit 6.5's but all speakers are different, so some may require you to be a bit creative

If ur after just some nice music then 6" are your ticket. If u want good music with nice bass note then 6.5" are were its at..

If u have a sub then get 6"/6.5" for the front and 6x9" in the rear on a 4ch amp (bridged for max POWWEERD) and a sub on a mono

Take note speakers will die if you don't spend descent $$$ on them.

I thought you shouldn't get 6x9's if you have a sub. Coz the sub takes care of all the bass you don't need bass from speakers. You'd only get 6x9's if you didn't run a sub wouldn't you?
