Custom iPhone dock/AUX input

if they have 1 on display take ur ipod in and test to see if it works
coz i have a similar setup as that aux and usb in front and mine doesnt accept ipod in the usb, it just thinks nothing is connected

make sure u test it, i'd hate to see u end up with somethign that didnt do what u wanted
 
yeah thats what im thinkin.. thats why i was swaying towards AUX.. cuz iv heard USB only works with iphone 1 and 3G , not 3GS and 4G.. il have to bring a usb along and test it!

unless youve gone to the fat dopey loser at campbelltown JB, then he always tries to sell stuff about 10% above the ticket price and rekcons he's king *poo* when he lowers it to the ticket price
 
we have a small coin pocket on the CJ, I cut mine to accept a dock at the bottom and wired under the centre console, looks neater without exposed wires.

It plugs directly into my HU, so I am fortunate there.

lol, thats prolly the main reason i bought the head unit i have now
cause both the ipod adaptor and the 3.5mm jack in were all on the rear of the unit and i just ran cables into my glove box
besides im always fearing that if i have the jack on the front that someones gonna bump it and break the connection
im thinkin 2 steps ahead, but i always seem to forget step 1 and jump to 2
 
front is ok for OEM-afterthought... better companies put their jacks in the console or glove box...as standard.

I think running it neat is the best of all options, it doesn't take too much more work, in reality.

'Gud thunkin' for buying a HU that had the accessory inputs!

okay well went into JB hifi and tryed my iphone 3gs on all the bloody headunits in there and alwasy says "no usb recognized"
so i just got the sony one with front AUX and going to do my original plan..

thats a bummer but i recon if u shopped around more you could have found one that u liked and did what u wanted
but i guess u had the xmas present rushies
 
okay well in that case il use that then. just have no experience in this stuff since iv never seen the back on a headunit b4 haha and sony website doesnt list about ports and *poo*, they just expect you to know what they all do :lol:
 
no flames! But, yes, those are RCAs. You can use input RCAs to AUX in music, but you mostly cannot control iPhone audio functions from the HU via those.....

But, you can have them in the rear of your HU and then no problems like you mentioned earlier!

Anyway, I am sure what you have now will do the job!
 
Yeah but the ones on the back aren't necessarily inputs. Most will be outputs and there MAY be an input, but it';s not something that's guaranteed. You really need to tell us exactly what model you got....
