contemplating on a CH, got several questions

hey guys, I hope I don't get flamed as I'm not sure if the question that I'll ask have been raised here previously

1. I know some of the CH are 4 Stud, anyone's ever done a 5 stud using the FTO stuff? Some may know that my CE which I had just converted to 5 stud, had been written off recently

2. with the 5 stud CH, if I was to do another brake upgrades at the front, do the FTO / VR4 brakes fit which have the 130mm mount tabs or are they 160mm mounts which evo 5-9 brembo uses?

3. Throttle Body Upgrade, I haven't looked into an engine bay properly as I've only seen pictures, are they drive by wire or still use the conventional Throttle cable?

4. Addition to the question above, regardless if they are drive by wire or conventional cable, has anyone done an upgrade on their TB?

5. fuel economy, I know these uses Coil on Plugs already, just wondering if how's everyone's fuel economy with city driving. I read somewhere here that most people were getting around 10-12L/100kms.

6. what fuel most people use? Is it really meant for 91ron and not 95/98ron?

7. Anyone had their ecu's re-flashed? if so, happy with results? or wasn't really all that excited after the tune?

8. with the auto boxes, I know most are Tiptronics, do they respond well when on manual mode?

As mentioned previously, most of my questions may have come up before but I cant seem to find more up to date answers.

At the moment, I'm contemplating on getting a CH with 2.4 and Tiptronic Auto box..

I believe it is direct swap, as the suspension is very similar to CE. Nobody has done 5 stud swap using CE/FTO stuff, they all just get the 5 stud from the later CHs

2. with the 5 stud CH, if I was to do another brake upgrades at the front, do the FTO / VR4 brakes fit which have the 130mm mount tabs or are they 160mm mounts which evo 5-9 brembo uses?

They use the 127mm mount spacing, same as early, so can bolt up the 127mm galants, or evo 1-3, fto etc, same as early CE

3. Throttle Body Upgrade, I haven't looked into an engine bay properly as I've only seen pictures, are they drive by wire or still use the conventional Throttle cable?

The 2.4 uses fly-by-wire, so I dont think there are any throttle upgrades, aside from boring it out. The 2ls are same as the 1.8 from CE (use cable) and you can use Evo or magna etc

4. Addition to the question above, regardless if they are drive by wire or conventional cable, has anyone done an upgrade on their TB?

See above

5. fuel economy, I know these uses Coil on Plugs already, just wondering if how's everyone's fuel economy with city driving. I read somewhere here that most people were getting around 10-12L/100kms.

2.4 uses individual coils, 2l uses same as 1.8 CE, no idea about fuel eco, theres a thread somewhere with a heap of peoples consumption

6. what fuel most people use? Is it really meant for 91ron and not 95/98ron?

Not sure

7. Anyone had their ecu's re-flashed? if so, happy with results? or wasn't really all that excited after the tune?

As far as I've heard the AUDM ecus cant be flashed, but the USDM ones can, though i believe it worth a try as from what I've read it wasn't very well informed so was possibly other issues.

8. with the auto boxes, I know most are Tiptronics, do they respond well when on manual mode?

no idea, most auto guys think they are awesome, but im sure it because they cant drive manual.

As mentioned previously, most of my questions may have come up before but I cant seem to find more up to date answers.

thanks for the quick reply...

ill dig more about the ecu re-flash, I just hope its not similar to the AUDM 6G75 where it cant be flashed..

might have a dig through with TB, as I think I found an alternative :D

so much for my gf's car.. lol

Pretty sure "maziobarditore" or how ever it is spelt done a throttle body upgrade. Talk to abs about the triptronic as I am not 100% but I think his is one. Pretty sure no one has done fto gear but if tron says itll fit, hes guess will be better than mine. I sometimes get around 660kms oer tank if I drive like a grandma using nornal/standard unleaded, I normally get 500ish kms to a tank, normally like 57ish dollars from empty which lasts me abit over a week. I know stuff all about the mechanics or my ch because I have more money than balls to tinker with my own daily so I just pay a pro. Hope this helps somewhat :/

do a 5 stud conversion using a CH VRX, thats if you dont get a VRX

3. Throttle Body Upgrade, I haven't looked into an engine bay properly as I've only seen pictures, are they drive by wire or still use the conventional Throttle cable?
The 2.4's are drive by wire from factory.

5. fuel economy, I know these uses Coil on Plugs already, just wondering if how's everyone's fuel economy with city driving. I read somewhere here that most people were getting around 10-12L/100kms.
See this: http://www.auslancer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3045
From factory, it's 9.4L/100km for auto's

6. what fuel most people use? Is it really meant for 91ron and not 95/98ron?
I only ever use regular 91 or 95/98. I noticed performance decreases among other small issues with e10.

8. with the auto boxes, I know most are Tiptronics, do they respond well when on manual mode?
The tiptronics in these use a single automated electronic clutch which controls timing etc..., so the response isn't 100% instantaneous but still goes well. You get a more instantaneous response with a dual clutch transmissions (on Ralliart/Evo) or manual transmissions.

Either way tiptronic is not designed for everyday use. If you want to do this, then should go manual.

Get a 06/07 VRX with 2.4L - these already come with 5 stud, body kit, armrest, foggies, nice looking mesh grille, climate control, 2DIN audio setup, chrome tiptronic shifter, black headlights and altezza taillights, and I've heard that from factory, their ECU's are tuned to be more slightly more responsive, than standard CH's.

Get a 2.0l, there's a lot more modding potential with them as they don't have mivec or a dumbass cat in the exhaust manifold. 4g94 upgrades are cheaper and easier to find than 4g69 upgradess, and matty managed to read my ecu so the 2l ecu can be reflashed

Also, I get about 500-550kms from a tank, with mixed driving between grandma and thrashing

just get a vrx - 5x114.3

5. fuel economy, I know these uses Coil on Plugs already, just wondering if how's everyone's fuel economy with city driving. I read somewhere here that most people were getting around 10-12L/100kms.
4g94 here - terrible - 180km city + 100km highway = ~10L/100

e10 in a 4g94 vrx here mainly

also wait wat ecu flashing?

no mods.. no mods..

...that's what I try and tell myself :/

The lure of the dark side is too great to resist

Another benefit of 2l is interchangeable parts with 4g92/93

Mivec kick isn't that great in a g69, I got a mate with an 07 vrx and I chop him every time ;)
