CE Coupe build plans :)

Hey Guys,

Just got around to signing up onto auslancer. :)

Planning on doing a ride thread soon when I get my build underway. Until then I thought I might share my plan on what I would like to do to my CE.

Shes a '97 Coupe 1.5 Manual and plans are to change that to 1.8L with some work here and there.

So far shes got central locking installed, hectic 5 panel mirror bar for max rear view (cheers John for inspiration), aftermarket wheel with boss kit, dildo shift (looking for short shift so my throw isnt 2kilometres), pig pipes(to be changed to 3" tip when exhaust gets done) and a set of 15" Ronal R20 wheels with et40 offset (sits quite flush with body).

This is a list of parts that I would like to gather up to get her going in the direction that I planned out:

4G93 Engine (dem hectic power gains)
Coilovers (D2 street by Engineered To Slide)
Extractors (aftermarket)
Intake (aftermarket)
Engine mounts
Clutch Kit (exedy)
1.8 Flywheel
Engine Loom L+R sides
ECU
Maf sensor
Intake piping
MR Cluster
Ignition Barrel+Key (same Car)
Immobiliser Unit (Same car)
Evo 4 Rear Bumper Pods
MR sideskirts
Front lip (already purchased)
Exhaust system (Men@Work)
Wheels and Tyres (hopefully John can help me out here)
Alarm system

If you guys have any other advice on what I should consider or not bother with that would be appreciated :)

Photos up soon as well.

D2 are apparently really crappy coilovers. Also you can get a short shifter kit from eBay UK.

Welcome to the club,

dont bother with D2, get BC no point in buying the more expensive D2 when BC outperform and outlast them hands down
I would add a rear swaybar to that list as without that the car will handle like chump

you only need passenger side engine loom for the conversion, the drivers side loom is if you want to run oem foggies etc
also good job on the wink mirror, they are most excellent

If you need any aftermarket parts and cant find a good deal on them let me know and i may be able to hook you up

Thanks heaps Res. I'll defs look into the bc coilovers if the d2 are really not worth it. Only thing to get this build started now is time and money haha but that's with most builds anyways haha. I'll defineatly contact you if I can't find the right deal :) also what wheels do you think would fit nicely without doing a 5 stud conversion just yet....? I was thinking watanabes or bbs rs....

5 stud is only worth it if you have a very specific rim at very specific specs u want (eg: evo wheels) or if you want brembo

there are actually an abundance of great 4x100 rims around nowadays... some very good track rims available if that's your thing, and of course plenty of stance rims for the people who want to look 'pretty'

for lightweight performance rims, enkei pf01, enkei Rpf1, 6UL's, buddyclub P1's (either forged or SF), volk ce28, wantanabe, few 2nd hand advan track rims floating around recently

I don't mind the enkei rpf1 they a nice wheel. For stance I was looking at *poo* like deep dish stuff and dynamic steelies. Again that was just for the looks. Track wheels are my type of thing but the nice spoked out stuff similar to advan hyperblacks

So all up my build would cost just shy of $5500.... Is that really worth it for a ce coupe? I have been offered a ch es 06 lancer for 4k off a mate and I'm just wondering if that's more of a better idea to spend money on? I did see a pretty sexy photo of a ch....

You'll never get your money back modding any lancer. Ive spent roughly 8k on my cc and its worth 5k MAX

for the love of god change that dildo shifter haha, everybody wants to join the 4g93 club lately

Haha I have been copping *poo* for the dildo shifter haha I know I won't get my money back but I think it's more sensible to do it to a ch

Ill sell u my 1.8l I just put in, has new exedy clutch and new exhaust with all wiring looms for $1200.
Been in car only few weeks.

Good on you for planning it out though.

Ce has a lot more performance and aftermarket support compared to ch. Consider that too. Parts can be scarce.
