Brake Upgrade

Hey all
Recently i installed my GSR calipers and rotors. Slightly more grab in braking now, but not that all impressed. Im now looking to upgrade to twin piston evo 1-3 calipers. IVe looked through the forums using the search button and know that i need to get redrilled rotors 4x100 to fit my hubs since the evo 1-3 are 4x113.
My question relates to the rear disc conversion. before res tells me to stay away since ive read him say that a few times, im willing to give it a go as a project even if i throw some tools around in anger.

What exactly would i need for rear disc conversion? I read i need rear trailing arms, discs, hubs, handbrake lines, anything else?? And from what car could i get it from other that a proton satria gti?
Also could i use evo 1-3 calipers for the rear? instead of the proton???

Cheers

STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

find yourself a proton "M21" which is also known as a "proton persona" remove WHOLE rear trailing arm including brake calipers, lines, handbrake cable, disc etc etc.
you need everything on that arm, the proton persona m21 comes in 4x100 stud patter so no redrilling or new hubs etc, just all bolts up

proton will be cheaper than evo parts, so i'd go for proton first, however the E1-3 rears are exact same except 5stud, you will still need trailing arm etc etc.
as far as i know evos1-10 are 5x114.3

Thanks res, so the proton satria gti parts are not bolt up? And i ask about rear evo calipers, because i will potentailly have them in a package as part of buying evo front calipers, so all four calipers

Persona (Wira) is sedan
M21 is coupe
Satria GTI is hatchback

You will need the rear trailing arms of any, and the handbrake cables to suit your body shape ( coupe)

Evos 1-3 are 4x114.3
Egos 4-X are 5x114.3

the rear brake is the same on the evo and the proton i think

satira rear brakes DONT bolt up im pretty sure, trailing arm is different or something, i forget the reason, but there is a reason why nobody uses them

you dont need specific hand brake cables at all, im running evo 3 cables, matty is running proton wira (sedan) cables... doesnt make much difference, just longer cables need to be looped up under the carpet

The track and wheelbase is the same, for satria and M21, so not sure why no1 uses them.

Maybe you just cant put coupe handbrake cables in a sedan is what I was thinking.

In any case, I would just find a wrecked Persona/Wira, they are pretty common cars. theres one outside my house i see everyday and dream of rear discs.

are you 100% sure i cant use the rear end of a satria for the conversion? cause thats where i was planning to get the parts from.
Btw for the front twin piston upgrade all i need to get done are custome drilled 276mm 4x100 rotors correcT? No modification to the brake lines?

well i have never ever heard of anyone using satira parts, so ima say im 99% sure
for the twins you need the redrill, and either get shorter brake lines (like i have) or make sure they dont hand anywehere near the disc or suspension coil an still go the distance and not get caught

Na, no need, even if you do a rear disc conversion (but left front brakes stock) you dont need to upgrade it. The same goes if you upgrade to evo brakes in the front but leave drums in the back you dont NEED to upgrade the cylinder but its recommended. However if you upgrade front to evo and do rear disc conversion then YOU NEED to upgrade the brake master cylinder.

I just contacted henry, he said the proton gti can also be used for parts for rears disc conversion on lancer coupe and mirages, dont think tis the case for sedans however

well there you go

also its recomended you get the master cyl upgrade with any brake upgrade just to eb on the safe side

you wont enjoy it when you brake hard then suddently need to brake hard again right after and the pedal goes right to the floor... tru story
you sheet your dacks

honestly for the $70-$80 its way better to get the 1" bore

Can anyone give an approximate estimate on the weight total for trailing arms, hubs, brake lines and handbrake cables for a rear conversion? basically everything excluding rotors and calipers.
I need to know for courier purposes cheers

i dont know exactly but i'd say for both ur looking at 40ish kg, .... trailing arms and discs etc etc.
its quite heavy
