4G15 to 4G93T Conversion

good parts shops/tuners/mechanics are VERY VERY hard to come by... glad i have my mechanic matty, very trustworthy guy and knows his sheet
as for parts shops.... i dont use them at all (well not shopfront type) i buy stuff from members, wreckers and online places like ebay cos its far cheaper!

as for dohc conversion on the 4g93... if you can find one someone is willing to sell without the rest of the 4g93T engine go for it, but i think you will sadly find it just doesnt happen
ppl sell those engine scomplete for a reason, they are worth far less without the dohc.

just stick with the 4g93 man, its cheap and did i mention its the ONLY legal P plate conversions for our cars? well it is, its only legal cos our cars came with it factory, otherwise conversions are illegal for P's

while ur on p's get some GSR brakes, swaybars, coilovers, strutbraces and get braking and suspension polished off completely (which will take the full 3 years probably)
learn some stuff, then convert the 4g93 easily into a 4g94 2litre engine for ~$500
then if ur not happy, go turbz.... but i suspect u wont even get half of that done b4 ur p's are over

Only got one more year on my greens ;P

So im best off looking through wreakers, this forum and ebay for my parts? Ill give it a try tonight ^.^
swaybars, coilovers, strutbraces.... hahaha BRB need to wiki what they do :p

Still asking around on quotes on the conversion (local tuners, etc) but most of them are adding up to be more then im willing to spend on labour.

My mates are pretty adament that we can put the engine in our selves.
So, has anyone done the conversion before? i've been reading up and seems like some people have tones of trouble and others dont =S

Think i just might worry about getting my hands on the engine first.

should have chosen reliable for one of your choices...
cos no doubt this will be ur daily for a while, think logically, not what will be the coolest
coolest can always be added in time... whereas realiability needs to happen from the start and continue the way through

(some serious advice there)

Look local man. No need to go interstate, there everywhere, ask a wrecker to keep an eye out for a front cut, cause your gona need a loom aswell

*cracks knuckles* *4G94 owner steps into the battle field*

After reading all of this, and still not completely sure on where you want to go with this. I say go buy a 4G94, I'm getting one for $400, and if you're willing to wait may have a one becoming available within 3-6months.
880 seems to much imo seeming i'm getting mine privately for 400 with less KM's on the clock.

The 4G94's are similar, though they have a longer stroke and a slightly bigger bore, thus meaning it has a longer block. But it is torque, can do a good skid and that. If you were going to do a 4G9 conversion, I'd be looking at buying a 4G94, and chuck it on a stand for a month while you work on it, so send the head out for a boring, fit a 55mm or 60mm TB to a 93/92 mani and fit that onto the engine, start work on putting turbo parts into it so things like: rods, pistons (low comp forgies), turbo manifold, turbo, dump pipe, then add other parts like: lightened pulleys, cam gears, 93 camshaft, also whilst it's out of a car I'd replace all gaskets with new ones as well as flush out all coolant and oil and replace with fresh stuff. (oil could wait till it is running to help aid removal). This is what my car will be going through, and even then, once you've completed the engine work (will you never will, you'll always want to change something) you'll need to start thinking about tuning. To run a turbo you'll need to run an Aftermarket ECU, so you're looking at 1-4k depending on what you buy. And then you need to take it to a tuner, so add another 1k or so to get it tuned and running.

If you know the costs associated with the conversion, then go for it, but, it is a lengthy project that does require a lot of cash. If you don't have time nor money then I'd put it on the back burner for a little longer, do some research, talk to people privately (I've been in talks with d3x and chowetime for a while just asking them how they did/doing theirs.), and also go talk to people who have done the conversion (either for 4g15->4g93/4, 4g15->dohc turbo, 4g15->4g93t, 4g93->4g63, 4g94->4g69), to name people: matty (I think has either done the or doing the 4g94 conversion or hybrid of 4g93 and 94), chowetime (did a 4g69 turbo build in her CH), bryce (did a 4g93[correct me if wrong] to 4g63[evo] conversion in his cc coupe, 12SHW (did a CM5A conversion in his coupe), NICEAS (Not sure if built but had a CM5A conversion in coupe), Guys like Spetz (i think) and Chaser have done the 6a12 conversions (another one to look into if you want power in N/A). I'd also be following people like myself (4G94 CM5A hybrid), d3x (4G93 CM5A hybrid), chowetime (4G69 turbo in coupe), MOR3L (4G93 cm5a hybrid, or same as d3x?), Res (Engine swap to a 4G9 or rumored to a 6G/6A engine), matty (4G93/4 hybrid), who are planned/currently doing engine conversions or turbo conversions to their current engines.

One final point: Do what you want to do, we'll always be here to offer counter opinions to help shape yours, but in the end it's your choice on how you go about your car. I've been told numerous times to not bother with my car, because it's not an evo, because it's hail damamged, because it's a lancer, but what am I still doing? Building it to be hopefully one of the fastest 4G94 CH's in Australia and more so one of the first in perth. Good Luck.

Unless explicitly stated there is no reason why a engineering certificate is included.
It is not done by the workshop or tuner.
Engineering signatories are a separate party.
Ask the tuner/workshop who they used and If they can build the car to proper standards that will allow it to obtain a cert.

Heaps good.
Just talked to hens and now know exactly what i need to get stuff done

can't post on the Wanted to Buy section so i'll leave it in this topic for now

Hey mate, instead of paying so much to get a small of power,I might have something more beneficial for ya and its much cheaper to get the power u want, I got genuine Mitsubishi turbo kit for lancer Ce! The kit is still in my car and I will give the buyer everything needed to turbocharge their lancer! GSR TD04 turbo, GSR injectors,etc....
Come and check the performance of the car yourself.
Pm if interested.

your car has the 4g93?
i think his is only 4g15 so would still need to buy a 4g93 to fit straight in, good idea though
