If you want something that can defiantely get up and boogie, and you arent afraid of spending some coin, then defiantely the 4G63T from the 4-5-6-6.5

If you want want to spend a little bit, then i'd probably go the 4g93 with a DOHC conversion, that was when you get over the NA power, the EVO 4-6.5 GSR stuff all bolts up (manifold and such).

exactly what i needed to know, cheers

^^ learn something every day

I wonder if the 4g69 and the 4g63 have anything in common.... Hmmmm... stroke the 4g69 to 2.7L with a 4g63 DOHC head and 300degree cams and a t76 or GT35R something ........ Just drooling thinking about it

you been thinking about engines way to much lol

Sure have, the power bug has bit me, and im sure the time will come when i need a rebuild for faster times

4g63t can pull over 1000hp

Since I blew the engine up early last year (2008) and have not had a nibble on the turbo kit that I have sitting in my house I have been trying to think what to do with it my choices are 1 of 2 options - buy a turbo car and when something blows it is easily replaced/upgraded - cost $15k or buy a new engine for the Lancer (4G69) and rebuild that engine.. $4k - $5k

So what I have found is that I can use the rods from a Evo 8 or 9 to go into the engine $400 buys you piston and rods so rods should be half that price

A return fuel line from the same and pretty much the whole fuel system from a evo 8/9 unkown$$

Injectors from a WRX 440cc apparently these are pretty cheap as well $100 for the full set

The crank shaft... I am not sure on it maybe able to be just treated to take/deliver more power which from what I understand is not an expensive job as it is a heat treatment with a protective coating

Oil cooler from a Evo ( this was possibly an oversight for the original setup)

Head swap... it is possible to use the head from a 4G64 as it has the same number of bolts (7) the journals match up etc
also a 4G63T will bolt up as it too has a 7 bolt pattern but some of the water journals need to be plugged - I don't think that will be a big deal so it seems that we can convert this engine to a DOHC only problem would be ECU but if you were going that far with a head swap you would look at changing over the intake manifold fuel line and install a Evo ECU (I think) but just think of all the possibilities of aftermarket parts

anyway this is just a start point and I will add to it as more info comes available I am using some info from a friend in the states that is doing the same he is aiming for 500hp atw I am not sure I want that much in such a light car

I can post up some pics if people would like a closer inspection of the head

Thought I would post a link instead

also....

4G69 uses 4G63 rod and crank bearings (old news)
4G69 uses 4G64, 4G94 valve guides and seals
4G69 uses the EVO timing belt tensioner which is aluminum, not cast iron
4G69 intake valve = 34mm (4G63 EVO = 34mm) May fit?
4G69 exhaust valve = 30.55mm (4G63 EVO = 30.5mm) May fit?
4G69 uses 4G64, 4G94 valve spring retainers
4G69 uses 4G63, 4G64 head bolts (can use 4G63 ARP head studs )
4G69 uses 4G63, 4G64 main bolts (can use 4G63 ARP main studs )
4G69 uses 4G63 EVO balance shafts (can use 4G63 EVO BS eliminator kit )
4G69 uses 4G63 fuel Rail (can use AEM's)
4G69 uses 4G63 Rods (just check height and length)

interesting...
someone should do the build.

Just imagine the following...
4g69 2.7L block
4g63t mivec head
Forged pistons - Moderate compression
Forged internals
Stage 3 cams.
Intake plenum
Running 30-40psi.

oh i could go on all night.

Couple that with a good sized turbo. ie t76 or maybe even a t88 with a 10k rev limitier :D

then pay off the 40,000 dollar debt after such a build :p

lol +1 to that lol  , leaning towards dropping the lancer as a project car and just buying a newer and better car - aka WRX or Ralliart

hey im new to the forums. this is a bit late but i was wondering the difficulty of putting dohc on my stock 4g94?

cheers, xavier

Probably best to make a new thread under the CH (i presume) section.
