DIY: Projector Retrofit

May be a stupid question but do you reckon you can mod the optional trs halo lights into the stock as well?

IIRC the Halo Lights are just a ring that sits ontop of the surround, so yes it should be do able. I think they have LED ones now, since I remember Joshy/Tronda having issues with the CFFL ones breaking.

Yeah it says Morimoto XB LED amber or white for an extra $50. I'm thinking about doing this DIY with the amber halos cuz they look maaaaaad :D

Hi Im a bit of a lazy kinda person and cant be bothered going through all this, does anybody know of anyone who is selling retrofit projectors that somebody already built?

If you really really wanted them I could do them for you if you provide the stuff needed, where in Aust. Are ya? I want to do this to my falcon also

Awesome DIY it looks mint! But my head lights have that stupid ripple effect on there lens, how did you come across a pair that where partially clear?

If your headlights are to that point it's just going to be easier to buy a new pair, that way you can still keep driving the car as you retrofit the headlights.

No point trying to retrofit crap headlights just to go out and buy new ones in the end and have to redo the whole process again.

He means they have a fresnel lens. Like the CE coupe 2 peice headlights.

The only way you can get away from that is swap to 1 peice headlights, or buy a set of headlights from the US that are aftermarket 2 piece with clear front lens.

Yeah mine is a 96 CE coupe and has that fresnel lens. I have found a pair at a wreckers that are clear at the front but the indicators have that pattern through it. But it looks like they can be separated and I'm only going to get the head light bit and don't worry about the indicators. I would attach an image of my lights to clarify but the image size is too large :/

just a little tip, at times you need to bend the cut off plate a little more than usual to achieve a more 'straighter' light beam..

here's the last set that I did

and this is the cut off plate, image is not clear but should give you an idea of it..

and if you're retrofitting a projector, it doesn't matter if the housing you'll be using are meant for LHD or RHD.

Just a quick question, what is the difference between the 3five 6000k and the XB35 6000k globes?

And since mine has h4 globes I would purchase the MotoControl Bixenon H4/9003 wiring harness? I just want to be 150% sure so I don't buy the wrong stuff :S

Light output.

The 3five globes are pretty much all you need as the retrofit does makes such an amazing difference. But the xb35's are a way to go brighter while still staying at 35w. If you do more around town driving and are REALLY keen on them maybe give the xb35's a go, but I'm quite happy with my 3fives :)

Correct, as your original globes are a h4 the wiring harness needs to plug into that.

I guess for only $20 there wouldnt really be much of a difference and also since they are illegal its best not to get the brightest lights out there

And say if I were to get the halo lights (I dont think I will but they do look pretty cool) the size refers to circumference? What size would you suggest I get if I were to?

is there anyone in sydney that would be willing to do this retrofit for me in my 2003 CE lancer coupe? Im based in campbelltown but dont mind travelling around sydney. happy to pay of course but not game nor have much time to do this but really love the look
