CC engine compatability

i have decided, 4G93 soch conversion, picked up a motor a few days ago for it, going to slowly rebuild the motor(it appears to be in desperate need for a rebuild) before putting it into my coupe and when it gets closer to being ready to throw into it, ill start buying the rest of the gear needed for the conversion. :D

What model? There are mivec 92s in both cc and ce orientation. There was also cyborg colts/mirages for both ce and cc shape overseas. The cc shape was basically the shape the satria uses with a different front end.

A pretty easy swap would be the 4g93p which are out of the proton satria GTi, these produce roughtly 105Kw from stock, these are essentially the same as the GSR engines (4g93t). This swap would allow a turbo conversion to be fitted without having the hassle of removing the block, also the gearbox is the same ratios as the GSR lancer.

These can be found pretty cheaply, there was one on the ebay section of this forum going for 500 including the box and everything.

There were 2 types of 4G92 DOHC Mivecs from the cc orientated Cyborg Mirages, they were Gen1 and Gen2.

Proton used a 4G92 SOHC non mivec engine, basically identicle to the older 4G93 SOHC brother

MrGhostClaw - Your going from a 1.5 carby to a 1.8 EFI, you may need to get an engineering cert for your car, if u dont and get busted then they will deregister your car until it is, a mate of mine just had this problem with his N15 pulsar, it originally came with a 1.6 but he threw an SR20 from the SSS in and didnt get it engineered, he was pulled over and red stickered.... now he needs to either throw the original engine back in it or get it engineered, engineering was quoted minimum of $2000... sorta makes u think he should of sold the Pulsar and buy a SSS

shouldnt be a problem cuz the cc's came out as either a 4g15 or a 4g93. all id need to do is take it for a blue slip again lol
which isnt a problem.

and going from a 1.6 to a 2.0 that didnt even come out in the same model car, would need a engineering certificate.

copied this from RTA's guidelines :)

Vehicle modifications fall into three distinct categories:
= ‘Owner certified’ minor modifications which can be accepted for registration purposes without formal
certification.
= ‘Engineering signatory certified’ modified production vehicles.
= ‘Engineering signatory certified’ individually constructed vehicles.

Examples of minor (owner certified) modifications are:
= Engine changes where the capacity increase is less than 15% above the maximum size engine available for the
vehicle (providing no major structural modifications are necessary and where noise and/or exhaust emission
ADRs apply, all standard equipment such as carburettors, exhaust systems, exhaust gas recirculating valves,
oxygen sensors and catalytic convertors relating to noise and emission control are retained and operate
correctly).
= The fitting of a proprietary sunroof (if the modifications are of a minor nature only).
= Fitting a ‘package’ available as optional equipment for the vehicle (eg front disc brakes, power steering, alternative
transmission and bucket or bench seats).
= Additional lighting eg fog & driving lights.
= Alternative wheels and tyres within the owner certified limits set by the Authority (see Vehicle Standards
Information Sheet No. 9 Guidelines for alternative wheels & tyres).
= Fitting of handling enhancing suspension components such as roll stabiliser bars and up-rated shock absorbers.

The N15 pulsar came in a 1.6, 1.8 and a 2ltre, so yes it did come from the same model car

The GL 1.5 carby and the 1.8 EFI have alot of differrence, 1 being the emission setup obviously, plus the GL brakes are smaller.. the 1.8 EFI is more than 15% increase to the 1.5

What about a 4G15 MIVEC turbo engine from a Colt Rallyart? Will it fit in a 2001 Mirage with a 4G15 SOHC and 5 speed manual tranny?

No it wont. ...

Why not? As long as tranny points are the same, engine to chassis mounts can be adapted, I think or would be so difficult that it is not woorth it /

I am asking because 6 cylinder MIVEC engine swapping has been done , what is the difficulty in this case. Should be easier since block and size should be almost the same. Both are from the 4G15 engine block series.

If you have the capabilities to make custom mounts, custom wiring, custom turbo piping then go for it.

It has been said that it wont fit, because it is not a similar motor by any means, and the likelihood of direct fitment is slim to none, and that is what most people on here want. If you have the cash and the willingness to do so, do it and post photos and details so that others can learn and follow. I would like to see one done, but I cant imagine it being easy.
