If you don't have washers, auto levellers and projectors (most headlight housings are reflector, not projector) they don't meet ADR and you can be defected for them.

They don't give you a proper cut off with reflectors so you might have really bright lights (not a good thing in bad weather either) but the light will be going all over the place, any dirt on the outside of the headlight will effect it more so than a regular light globe also.

TL;DR version: HID's are s*** unless they came with your car standard.

^ What he said! As far I am aware for them to be ADR approved though they have to meet the above criteria and be factory fitted and not retro-fitted to the car after it was made...

lucky mine are projectors that are stock..... well stock for another car :p
they have all the fancy *poo* like auto leveling and magnetic drives etc etc...

i recon HID's dont blind as much in projector lense setups
in reflectors they do the light just goes everywhere and they are *poo*

im not keen on massively advertising what evil things im gonna do to my car shortly, so i figure if i post it on a small forum like this, news may not travel fast :p

my pod filter ate itself the other day, may have seen a pic, but here it is anyway:

it broke away from the lower bracket of my CAI, bounced of the road, and wedged itself in between my tire/wheel arch/suspension/brake lines.
it was a very scary sound. lol thought i burst the tire, and was grinding down my wheel :O

but anyway, running a slightly modified stock intake now, only for 2 weeks.

on the 19th of feb, the car will be going down to 13k Customs, were it will undergo an engine transplant.

hoping soon after to run into the 15sec 1/4 mile times, hopefully even a 14.

:)

Hmmm no good on the pod....interesting to hear about the engine swap though :p

na dude, fender/under carriage etc. got *fudge*ed...

the whole underside of the fender got popped out, and was hanging outside the fender :/

left foot against fender, both hands on inner gaured and pull

ok re-phrase... the pod tryed beat the car up but the car had its revenge in the end :p

how did the engine cope whne you drove home with nothing on the plenum chamber?
if just the pod came off theres not much differance, just could suck up some crap off the road, not a big issue aslong as its not a dirt road

i wouldn't exactly say i drove home. more stumbled.

it happened just like 2km away from home. so i limped it home at like 5km/h. hazard lights on, pod scraping against the fender :(
turned a corner in one of the local streets and it all just fell out of the wheel arch lol
luckily it was 11pm~ at night, so hardly any traffic.

also lucky it happened then, and not on the way to work or something.

so excited about the new motor. gonna be a NA monster hopefully. :)

i calculated out, that in a 900kg car, i need about 90kw atw to make a mid 14sec quarter mile.

ill be VERY happy with that. :) anything is better than the 18.1's im getting now :(
