yes a few of my close mates have this exemption.
but it does not work to your advantage.
friend #1 works in a small car dealership specialising in imports. he traded in his type R, and was given an evo 6.5 to drive around for work to promote the business, aswell as commuting to and from his home address.
his business manager applied for the exemption for him, and it was granted, but they went pretty indepth, e.g he was only allwoed to drive the vehicle during work hours on work days, and only around the area or to job locations. if he was caught driving during night time or in another location that is not his home or work address, the privelidge would be removed, and license disqualified.
friend #2 works in a trade (as do i)
his main role was to deliver parts/goods/accessories/supplies to job locations, using work vehicles. those vehicles were SSv8 commodore utes, and i think a petrol injected turbocharged van. not sure what model, might have been mercedes, anyway.. same thing he got the grant, but only allowed to drive to and from work and during work hours.
kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me, having a performance vehicle and not being able to drive it.
oh, not to mention how many times the evo gets pulled over and has to show documents etc to prove that he is legally able to drive.
they were lucky enough to get the exception, alot of applications are rejected from people giving the same excuse, as Tron said. my friends got these not long ago, so im sure they are pretty strict on it. if you were lucky enough to apply ages ago and theres no rules to follow, then you must be hella lucky haha
