R31 drift project (thoughts?)

Some of you may know this already. but I have been looking into an R31 shell that one of my local friends are selling. All it needs is the motor/gearbox. I am thinking about using an RB20 or 25.

Now before you go ranting "blah blah blah, this will never work" I have done some research on this, and it should be a pretty fun project.

Yes this car will never touch the road and will only be used at a track.

This is something wich i would like it to be like

(once i get this shell. I will start a new thread in "members projects")

I like the idea although I think why not get the most out of it and have it on road aswell..

rb25/30.

im checking this car out sometime this week. should be in my back yard by the weekend. this is no dream. this is serious.

who says i cant. im buying it arnt i? i can get my hands on plenty of parts for the right price. its going to be a slow project

make it a street car... drop a stock rb25 in it.. get it mod plated and road legal. take it off the road when it gets defected

cheap skidder you say?

rb25 manual box
rb30e, give it a freshen up, grab some cheap extractors
weld that diff
cheapy S13 coils
check brakes work
go skid it.

the 3.0L 6 and the welded diff should give you enough to learn how to drive a rwd/slide it. when you 1up the skillz, ditch the car for a something awesomer ;)

judging by the progress on your lancer i dont see this going anywhere fast.. me and dad were thinkin doing something simlilar but with a 180sx or s13 silvia. but theres just too much envolved and costs way too much $$
why not save the cash ur gonna spend on this and get some power under ur lancers hood!

just my opinion so dont flame me ;)

This. Don't take it as hacking on you though.

You'd be better off spending the money on the car you already own. Not to mention your current car is a low powered FWD auto - you want to then jump into a high powered RWD and drift it?

Chalk and cheese really, I think you'd be better off investigating getting drift lessons or something to see if you are able to do it before blowing a chunk of money on something that may never get off the ground.

Im with everyone else....

You need the money to build something like this... Or it will sit in your backyard for years until your parents tell you to get rid of it.

Dave makes a good point, put your money towards drift lessons. Can you drift? Ive had mates in Stadium drift, with full setup cars, they were just ok drivers but couldnt keep up with the costs of a drift car.

Also with a Track Car, you need a 4WD and a trailer to take the car to the track?? ideas?

hmm look. my car never gets updated cause i cbf. also the price well... im not going to give up on it. and for all you guys saying "funding" and blah blah blah. you dont know how i get my money to get this *poo*. im not jobless. and yes, i know how to drift. like i have stated so many f*cking times. this is a PROJECT!

can i see some of this drifting, already told you im able to help with skylines

lol john when its all working and such i have a mate out of town with allot of open tarmac. should be good to use to practice, so if you wanna drive to bundy go for it :p
