problem with my car again

alright people i no i have asked this question before but im asking it again with more info this time

first off.... anyone with a 4g15, do u have a lag spot between putting your foot on the gas and the clutching engaging to allow for acceleration

if not then does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be...

my thoughts so far:
ive bought new sparks and leads(arriving on monday)
clutch lag/ tranny lag
engine not powerful enough
flywheel to heavy(dout this could be the problem)
wheels to heavy(im looking into every possible thing)
could the timing be off

also ive taken it to a mechanic and a automatic tranny specialist and they both cant figure it out

any help would be great

as i said last time and to the last 4 billion people asking this

its just normal for a 4g15, i live with it and every other 4g15 driver lives with it

just hit the gas earlier so that u accomadate for the lag time

Correct

are u guys sure its normal for a 4g15? not sure if simo lag is the same one as u guys are referring to.. my bros gf drives a automatic CE MR and the car has a lag too... like u full step on the accelerator and after about around 1.5-2seconds then it responds

mr is a 4g93 different motor

yeah i know its a different motor but i thought maybe he meant that kind of lag that my bros gf MR was experiencing

also as i said last time, if ur "full step" on the acclerator pedal the huge jump in air is going to overload the system for a second till the ecu can propperly react.

what ur describing is 100% normal if ur "full step" on the throttle all of a sudden

I was reading that Mitsubishi had created the flat spot so as to increase fuel economy. I too have found this flat spot annoying but have worked around it most times. Is there a way to re map the fuel and spark curve? Does anyone here tinker with the ECU of a 4G15?

100% normal for a standard 1.5/1.8 litre lol,do u people expect a massive jolt of speed and burnouts when u do it?its not a v8 lol sit at 4k revs in 1st gear then hit the accelerator hard. theres your speed boost.

What do you mean its not like a V8? Damn, here I was thinking a set of extractors and some new plugs would make massive killa wasps ;)

ok thx 4 so many replys... so basically dlusional is correct about my problem.. there is a lag between pressing the gas and the tranny engaging.. almost sounds like my clutch is sorta hanging abit before engaging fully

and yes res i no about the foot on the floor thing and im not doing that any more and it still does it..

also to mmc when i installed my sound system i had the car running for a while then unplugged the battery alot then running again so there's a chance that it got reset but im not sure...

could that have caused the problem

also to what sixes said.. could u remap the ecu... i mean my acceleration in my car is *fudge*in fast but the take off is just terrible

and no josh im not looking for smoke.... just a bit of life from my car to let me no that it actually wants to move forward and not just roll

I have a couple of 1.5 no autos though and resting the ecu properly or at least what is was told is properly made q difference for me.
Disco battery for half, reconnect , have fans air con etc all off, don't touch accelerator and start car leave idle for just over 10 minutes then turn off. this used to fix idle problems and lag in mid revs for me sometimes it would take a few day for everything to settle in. try it can't hurt.
Iirc don't auto lancer/mirages have those learning auto trannys ? Maybe a reset may help if that's the case, just a thought cause i know zero about any 4cyl autos I've never owned one.

i drive a manual MR atm, previously had a glxi auto, and after driving my bros gf MR auto, the lag that your talking about isnt the same lag as the one im talking about. i know thers a lag when ur full stepping on the accelerator, but the bro's gf MR lag is not standard, its an actual problem. wen the accelerator is press, doesnt have to be FULL STEP, ders a 2 second lag. even if i rev to just 4-5k in D position (automatic) all i hear is the rev going to 4k then after about 2 seconds then it actually moves the car, that isnt the standard lag

Checked the level of the trans fluid? If its low then it could be the result of the lag as the converter isnt able to build up pressure quickly enough to make it move?

When was the last time you had your auto serviced?

not too sure, not my car, its my bro's gfs car that i drove and noticed the massive massive lag compared to other lancers

nope, takes off normally, except ders a huge lag between wen u accelerate and the car actually moving, not the standard lag that res is talking about , but mehhh not my car , not my problem :p
