Official too lazy to search, noob friendly thread.

Right..... so anyways I'm about to put them on and I'm not 100% on my method. The plan is to take the wheel off, measure the centre and stick the spacer on the wheel with a little dab of sikaflex so it stays in the center wile I'm putting it back on. Is this a good way to do it? Should I let the sika get tack dry before putting the wheel back on?

Im not 100% on what you mean.. Most slip on spacers, you jack up the car, take wheel off, slide on the spacer, put wheel back on, tighten nuts, lower car back down. You dont need to use sika.

Some suggest loctite to keep it centred on the hub but as above, never heard of someone actually doing that.

It seem to have worked, you see I put them on a few weeks ago the way donki is saying, just plonk it on and tried to centre it as best I could through the rim wile it was still loose, but yeah I was getting some pretty bad vibrations in the steering. Then my rego ran out and it was time to swap from qld to Mexican reg.. long story basically talked myself into an inspection at Vic roads... Took everything off the car and decided I would do it properly, well as properly as I could think of... Passed inspection and now iv put my spacers back on, I haven't taken it over 100 yet but I can't feel any vibration anymore so that's defs a positive.... If I was going to recommend spacers, I would recommend fixing them to the wheel as I did, just putting them on and hoping was sketchy as fark

I had to fix the spacers to the wheel because there was about 25mm of movement in every direction, up, down, left and right. So by measuring and gluing it to the inside of the rim I know its centred... That makes more sence right? Its the only way I could think of doing it properly

Edit: the holes in the spacers weren't perfect holes, there like rectangle sort of shape, so they could fit other types of 4 stud

Does anybody know if Evo 1-3 rear lower control arms are the same as FTO ones? Or does anybody know the measurements of FTO ones? I'm trying to get a pair but the bloke only has the evo ones and reckons they're the same. Just want to be sure before committing to buy!
Thanks

They are the same. According to partsbase.org they are the same. However there are 2 types of FTO rear lower control arms. They are exactly the same in dimension but have different sway bar tab mounts on them.

GSR right rear control arm part number MR197610
GSR left rear control arm part number MR197609

FTO DE3A right rear control arm part number MR197610 (1995-1996)
FTO DE3A left rear control arm part number MR197609 (1995-1996)

The GSR has the same part numbers as the FTO DE3A with the 18mm swaybar and U type sway bar links.

Anybody know of any DIY guides on how to remove the air con system from a mirage?

1) Have it degassed "professionally" (do not breath the *poo* in, it will give you a wicked headache)
2) remove two hoses in engine bay
3) remove pump in bay
4) remove condenser (radiator), and that bottle thing, .

Basically done

Seems straight forward. Are any new belts required?

It is, will only be left over with a little bit of a simple wiring loom, a couple relays - nothing major at all. Degassing is the worst/hardest bit.
Yes, a shorter belt will be required as the power steering and aircon run off the same belt, unfortunately im not sure of a part number for you though,

Ok few quick ones.

One piece to two piece headlight swap - any info or is it just drop in?

Radiator any recommendations for a reallly cheap aftermarket one?

Radiator how many bent fins is too many? (looking at a second hand one from the wreckers)

Radiator where abouts is the best place to drain it from?

Think thats it for now - ty

2 piece has a bracket between the headlight and indicator which holds the 2piece setup in. 1piece doesnt have that. Need 2piece headlight guards.

Dunno

Depends how bent they are

Radiator where abouts is the best place to drain it from?

pull off the bottom hose and most of it will drain out from that

And for what application? GTi box is for for both NA and turbo applications. Not until you start getting big power do you need a GSR or Evo box locked to fwd, and by the time you need an Evo box locked to fwd you should be AWD anyway

Is it true that the gti internals are stronger than the lancer one? Some people said that they got the lancer one over the gti box cos its got a longer final drive.
