So boys and girls,
I am here to announce that I will be making the switch from my lovely clean Blue CG to a small sporty 1990's NA MX5 within the next few coming months.
Obviously I didn't make this just to say I was buying an MX5, I was more interested in hearing what people were also thinking of purchasing or why you purchase what you have, and to why you wish to purchase said vehicle or keep said vehicle.

EDIT:
So I am actually doing this and checking out this lovely girl and giving her a good test run ;) this Sunday. It's a mx5 forum members son's old car that he has kindly decided he wouldn't mind selling to me for $3'000. It has 300k on the chassis, 150k on the motor fitted and fully serviced professionally by Automotive Plus, also know as MX5 Plus, with full logs. Lovely red paint, new thread on tyres, parts for new ac and power steering, plus all the stock parts he has taken off to put aftermarket ones on. Downsides being soft top has faded and yellowed plastic window, and a few small holes which can be patched up (New replacement for a top of the line soft top with heated rear glass window is $500, which will be bought straight after if I decided to purchase vehicle after inspection tomorrow). There is also a small crack in the dash (unsure if board or just facing, but shall be looking at it), but overall for $3'000 I am not complaining as these usually go for around 7k for average-decent ones. Bonus being rego till mid year :D

I am making the switch from my Lancer to a MX5 for a few reasons, one being that I've always wanted to have a small, affordable coupe/convertible that was good around corners and easy on the eyes. I've also now got a new found love for these things after having a small test drive in one and having an absolute blast just driving around suburban streets. I also quite like the aftermarket range for these lovely vehicles specially the 1990 NA models (pop top lights).

So yes now I pose the question what do you guys love from your cars or from the cars you wish to purchase!

Love the cc shape and affordable mods. Love the rice options. Love 2 door. Love coupe shapes in general. Too much emotional attachment. Wouldn't sell it by choice.

1.6L lol. Throw a 1.8 in as soon as you can! I really want an R32 4 door or sileighty.

If I manage to find a good condition 1.8l NA I will get that but if not a 1.6l is all I need to do mountain runs in such a small little car.

32 4 doors, nice. Difficult to find, they are.

Also spend the extra cash on a decent condition one. A friend of mine spend upwards of $6k just to get his pristine one up to scratch without issues

A standard or good one is hard to find D:

Do it anyway. I have heard nothing good about the 1.6l ones :p Even SR20 it! a bloke i know did it for his drift car. SO good.

mates got an na8 mx5, pretty fun car but like all older cars it has a few creaks inside, cabin smells like engine bay and the chassis is made of cheese.
still heaps fun in the wet but you really need full chassis bracing and coils to get started

What's happening to the CG? Selling?

Hmm put big ricey body kit on the MX5, the only MX5's I've seen that I liked had decent kits on them

lol screw a kit, if you eliminate the wheel gap without a kit it'll be below 100mm so with a kit you'll be running a mad wheel gap which is gheeey

Love my CC but I'd jump at a chance to get into a CJ, ideally I'd keep the CC to turn into a track day car.

You'll need to get Turbo Yoda to make the MX5 go faster!

I bought my lancer as i loved the shape and didn't cost much to run. Currently saving to buy a 180sx type x at the end of this year/early next year, but will be keeping the lancer as a daily

Haha, no kit, just an OEM front lip and possibly skirts. BC coils, and full bracing come soon after the purchase of the car along with good fitment wheels (not phat fitment, good fitment). Going to keep the MX5 clean, neat and simple. Hardtops are stupidly hard to find (for a good condition one that is) but will come down the track.

Already got my plan sheet done for it and it's looking mint. Now to acquire the car.

And as to what I am doing with the CG, the CG is not getting sold it is just being returned to the parents as I only own a portion of that car and so I will be giving it back to them for my younger brother to drive (under my watchful eye obviously). So every now and then I will be able to take the CG along to meets still, depending on what kind of meet it is haha.

^ This is close to what I wish to achieve really, just with a little less low and not so wide a wheels, it's running CCW LM16's 16x9.5F (3.0" lip) and 16.9.5R (3.5" lip). The car is actually one of the designers of CCW wheels' car. I would ultimately be going for a similar style rim but not in 9.5 more like an 8.5 really as I don't want to run much camber and still wish to hit mountains hard. I also want to try and get my mx5 in this lovely OEM Mariner Blue colour but they are hard to find as well.

i love that blue mx5. you know the offset of those ccw's?

After a coupe ill be getting a mx83 or a e39 5 series and out a LS into it. I can hear the purists crying already

Ccw's are made to order in what ever size you want
