Mirage to 1.8L conversion $1499 fully installed

I think the amazing thing is the gauge cluster lasted this long....

the wire looms are very standard they only change if you have auto trans, but yeah good idea to keep within the same series because the power steering hoses are different fittings and it is just a little easier than having to swap out the hoses, but again it is not hard to swap out especially if you have a complete car...

We did do a 4G93 standard into a mirage but we had gotten a auto trans wrecked car so we swapped over the gearbox with the 4G15 and it is very rev happy the gear ratios make it very responsive... I think if I was going to do another swap I would probably lean towards having a G15 box on it for this reason alone.

you will be surprised as to how many MRs are wrecked around the place.

As for my MR I have given that to my daughter... I am just so busy with paint jobs etc I have put it away for now and will look at it again later so don't hold your breathe for much performance work to come out of my shed... well they won't be my cars anyway

Thanks chowetime I'm i correct that i would need between a 97 - 99? Also taken into account its my first swap buy my self should i sheer clear of an auto donor because i know exactly where i can an MR auto from if its still there and the price is right or I'm better sticking with a manual coupe for a simpiler plug and play as such?
Thank you i really appreciate your input.

Since you in the gong it wont be too hard for me to help you out.
You can use the auto engine loom if that is all you have found.
But of course if want to do it the donor car way best to go for a manual example.
In all honestly you dont need the entire car to do a 4g93 into Mirage conversion.

Thanks Henry, i was thinking steer clear of the auto to save my self to many hassles being a beginner and all. only thinking of a whole donor as i see it the most cost effective way. What's your views on the 1.8 v 1.5 box mated to the 93 motor?

that looks like a good deal downside is no klms have been mentioned, you will need to buy or get a new key and get it flashed by Mitsubishi t wrk and this can be expensive I think it costs around $130 and new key to be made is worth around $80
henry is quite correct as it is your first time swap getting a manual is the better choice, but if you are finding it hard to find the auto is an option but it will need a new thermo housing as well (forgot about that one)plus the clutch and flywheel which will add up to additional $500 then aligning the gearbox and flywheel clutch up is a tricky job and you do need friends for this.
The other reason I mention the whole donor car is that there is usually parts left over which you can either reinstall into donor car and sell donor car as a complete car with a 4G15 or just strip it out and sell off good way to recoup costs but only if you have the space to store.

Thanks chowetime think ill just take my time and get the same year model coupe manual which will make it alto easier. I was thinking of changing the timing belt (unless its been done) water pump and ome exedy clutch ( I've changed a clutch before on my old esky ) which are on ebay for about 180 whilst I've got the 1.8 out and on a stand and and do some general tidying up saves pullling it out again down the track depending on whatwhat i get and what condition its in. I've started studing the general wiring difference so i have some sort of mental picture and not just going in blind. After doing the research and hearing your advise I'm leaning towards keeping the 1.5 and the bonus is the one in my car is a reco'd box and in excellent condition.
Thanks again.

Thats great good idea on upgrading and servicing before installing engine, this will save you valueable time and money later especially if the car is a keepa.

look at porting the intake manifold while you are at it

also if you live near Hen's I would certainly be keeping in touch with him.

Thanks chowetime ill look into the porting locally and see if i can find someone. Def thinking of a cai and headers from Henry.

He cuts a lot of corners and takes months to do some simple work. I wouldn't recommend either, very dissapointed with my experience
