Markus' 4g94 ride thread

Okay so here it is, after roughly 6 months of stalking the forums I've finally had the effort to post a ride thread!
So I have had my 2004 ch lancer vrx for about 6 months now and I'm pretty happy with it, but it's about time to get down to business with some mods...

A few specifications so people don't get confused when my MIVEC ain't kicking in, yo:
2004 model 4g94 (2.0l)
Vrx automatic
89,000km
PCD: 5X114.3

What I've currently had done:

front skirt ez lip (not a huge fan though it kept scraping on my driveway)
K&n oem style air filter
New 17x7 au-229 wheels with budget tyres
Booked in for full service, timingbelt/waterpump and wheel allignment

Potential Future mods:

- 2.25 inch catback exhaust with a straight through muffler and sports tip
- New Headers
- Pedders/Kings super low suspension or stick with vrx suspension- thoughts?
- Black altezza rear lights
- Black ralliart style front headlights
- Carbon fibre interior rap (looks so good on so many ch lancers!)
- MAYBE vortex style roof spoiler? not sure how it would look...
- Removing stock wing and going wingless.

And photos of course: (some scratches we don't like to talk about here...)

good to see you finally got a ride thread up, also good to see youve made some progress since the cruise all that time ago

Thanks man,
Yea well I've finally got some money to spare so I figure it's time to start getting some things done

Isnt 4-1 Headersa little silly because they are more for the 6+ rpms ? And if your going to get the TB done may as well do the I.M as well, such a waste having a big T.B without having the I.M upgraded :) Awesome rims man, Ive got a yellow VRX with stocks on atm, carnt decide what rims for now :/

Yea see I was thinking that about the headers but I'm pretty sure matt from this forum (mazio) had the 4-1 hurricane in his car before he parted out for stock. Also with the TB I definetely have planned to do the intake manifold with it to man haha, waste of money otherwise, I didn't realise I didn't add that to the post! Of course I'm not made of money so that will be in time.

And yea I'm really loving the wheels so far! You can't beat the 6-spoke on a ch in my opinion, each to there own i guess!

Good to see another CH. I like the look that your aiming for, very tidy :)
But get that exhaust sorted lol, its so tiny esp with the VRX lip... dont knw what the designers were thinking

Nah mate I had the tri-y hurricanes designed for the 4g93. They still fit to the CH because of the same manifold bolt patterns. They had to be modified a little to fit though

I recommend that setup instead, because with the 4-1 you're not gonna get the most out of them with the 6.25k rev limiter

Likewise you want a 4g93 intake manifold which also bolts straight on, and will support the bigger throttle body once ported.

ahhh yea I remember you saying that now... hmm well back to the drawing board, how much modifying did it consist of? Because I know wildcat do some tri design for my model direct bolt on...

agreed mate! working on it.

So i found these grills on ebay and figured I'd try them out since they are cheap, pretty sure I like them.

Also, I know I need to paint them but thats where I need your guys help. Not sure whether to just paint the whole thing black or maybe colour match the frame of it? Any opinions would help!

Colour match the mesh with your car paint code or some sort of graphite colour ... I seen it on the 380s and they look badass

Yea I'm contemplating doing that, get my front bar resprayed since the scratch is there and get them colour matched. You mean just the outside frame or the entire mesh part too? Might have something else coming that needs colour matching too... But you will find that out later!

Oh, also just bought a can of plastidip because you know, I'm a ricey p plater.

Was thinking to paint the grille black but not sure not, any idea what i can do with it :L

Thinking I might not do that until I have more black parts to the exterior, or else it'll really look cheap.

I've seen black grills on plenty of the lancers, I feel like it would look okay, should I colour match the frame and paint the mesh black?

uhhh oops I don't even know how I did that.... Can it be moved or should I start again?

Also, I completely ignored absolutely everything all of you lovely people said and am currently plastidipping the whole thing. If it looks terrible this comment will be deleted. ;)

Re: Markus' 4g94 ride thread (Parts update)

Well it's been a while so I thought I'd better update you all!

As you can see my car is still in one piece, although sadly no mods have been done :(

This is due to me waiting for parts and money to come my way. Parts including; new headlights, carbon fiber eyelids, new front lip and the money to repair my front bumper before adding new lip. All of these parts are finally here!

Except I soon learnt after trying to put the lights in that they come with different electrical connectors... so now I'm just waiting on the adapter for them. (thanks to rigby and Luftfolie for the help to find them)

So now it's just a waiting game, and I'm HOPING to have it all done in time for the cruise coming up next month, just keen to get it all on and see how it looks!
