Jared's CH project

figured it's about time to update this thread (no pics yet cause cbf)

Since my last post I have installed;
-Bonnet bra? not sure if i've mentioned this one. it's still an on/off thing depending on my mood
-Rear strut brace which involved moving the sub panel (again)
-Low king springs front and rear. Rear Monroe shocks, Front KYB shocks due to parts stuff up
-Battery monitor flush fit to my dash, i know a few people have done them on here.
-VRX Black headlights, decided to buy some ebay specials instead of retro-fitting projectors and spraying inside black as i'm lazy and wanted it to just be plug and play. turned out to be a mistake because they're already fogging up inside something chronic.
-FOG LIGHTS!!! Fitted, wired up and working! Makes night driving so much better

Next up is cat-back and probably intake maybe eventually

looks awesome man, i like what u did with the inner boot and the panels/consoles, im also going to black out my badges but im gonna use the rest of my matte black plasti dip that i used on my wheels XD, so far performance wise all ive done to mine is install "low" front kings, short ram intake, cannon exhaust and ngk ignition leads and iridium sparks. but im having issues with high idle that i cant figure out :/ . for the looks ive done some custom black painting on lower front bumper and added a universal lip which was 35 bucks on ebay (looks awesome), talon spoiler, a few dollar stickers, red mambo shifter and got a custom boot coming to compliment it ^^ (not manual ist tiptronic btw, gona try make it looks somewhat like the evo7 gta gear/boot). ill post newer photos when i got the time, looking at urs gives me some ideas :p

Great paintwork mate, some things to keep in mind;
If you do go Projectors one day, fitting them with HID's can be costly and complicated. ADR specify that you'll need an auto leveling function and headlight cleaners, and mounting projectors to be movable can be a pain in the ass. I don't think these specifications need to be done if you are just running Halogen though, and mounting the projectors static is relatively easy (plenty of tutes on youtube).

You can run a 2.5" CAI with the manual transmission down the battery side of the car [with autos there isn't enough room :(].
I was recommended to run no bigger than 2.5" out, you can delete the manifold cat with RPW's extractors and use a sports cat (make sure you meet the Euro standard set for the car to avoid defect).
A good tune will wrangle out any CELs.

Loving your work!

Nice work well done.
Cheers man!

i need to repaint my blacks and i'm thinking plasti-dip haha, too many chips on the front grille and badge :/

if you need any ideas let me know! to be fair it was a pretty rushed boot job and it rattles when it's hell loud hahaha

Thanks heaps for that! been wondering what to do about the exhaust/intake in regards to any possible ECU issues. How much do you think that sort of exhaust setup would cost with the tune?

Exhaust setup alone would be around $1200-$1500 I think.
Check RPW for their price for the headers/flex pipe, then get a quote from a performance shop or exhaust centre for a sports cat back.

I'm not sure about tune prices, I haven't gotten to that part of my planning yet. I'm snowed under with planning and research, I haven't gotten around to getting quotes.

yeah i was thinking that sort of price. honestly just considering rear muffler delete. definitely not wanting to spend big money on exhaust, would rather wheels or clutch/flywheel :/

Here's some pics

Which is now all hidden behind the sub :)

Damn, I didn't realise how low the shock towers sit on the ch.
Very clean boot layout, should invert the hinge on the false door so it's hidden and you don't scratch stuff sitting on the boot floor, would add to the clean appeal.
Love that vintage looking handle though

yeah neither did i until i did the new struts!
a few people have mentioned the hinge, definitely need to get around to doing that haha, i love the handle! putting a bit of homely touches into the car

Alright, gave her a clean and took some *decent* photos of the front end now that i have the vrx headlights and foggies. Can see that it's lower than stock ride height but not low enough for my liking. may require coilovers at some stage haha

So over the weekend, i may have done something stupid... haha. I stripped my interior once again, this time to turn the upper half from that boring light grey to black. There were a couple bits i couldn't get, and i'm still undecided on what to do with my sunvisors. So this is a WIP of sorts

This weekends' job was doing the rear sway bar. I got an 18mm heavy duty rear sway bar for $185 through bursons. Came with new mounts but links were not included.
Tips if you want to do this to yours
1: remove rear exhaust mounts to give yourself some more room on the right hand side.
2: sway bar links have a 5mm allen key lock thread, so you'll need a 5mm allen key and 14mm spanner. and a lot of patience as you can barely get the allen key in there because of the damn springs.
3: make sure your kit comes with new nuts, or be prepared to find some for the mounts without flanges.

I went into this thinking it would be a quick 5 min job but it turned into an hour long ordeal with lots of swearing and lots of anger. I also don't think i have everything as tight as it should be so i'm waiting for something to fall off.

TLDR; Don't do this it's horrible, pics follow
