In car cameras

I like the MiVue's quality. Any downsides to this camera?

oh and lol at that green magna.

No it's not terrible, the only downside is my Mrs bought me a GoPro Hero 3 for my birthday a few days later, LOL
I'm keen to try it out and see what it's like on the night vision.

I remember many years ago when I had a 76 Celica I made a bar that sat across the back side windows, using the seat belts as anchors I mounted my then Sony Handy Cam (Early 90's model, Video8) and it worked, my very own in car camera like those in racing cars :)

Now I have a Canon Legria (SD Card about 3-4 years old) and a very good suction cup mount system which I'm tempted to try externally but afraid it will fall off wrecking the camera... but it would make for a great YouTube clip

funny thing is that the p-plater ended up in the same position towards the end, after overtaking

I guess we've all be in traffic, driving normally with others speeding around us, only to get no further.

Mythbusters tested this recently and found you were only a few percent quicker for all the stress of lane switching and speeding up. Not to mention the extra fuel used trying to get their first.

Hey guys,

In case you didn't know, we supply everything that Electus does.

If you are interested we could possibly organise a group buy of the cameras so that we can get the price down?

Have you got spec's of you camera's listed anywhere?

I will add it tomorrow's agenda and consolidate the models on the site and send a link to make it easier.

Snapped this clown this morning, didnt like being passed with a little tsu tsu, so speeds past at high speed and does this...
And this isnt the first time, he did the same about a month or so ago and brake tested me then too, luckily my brakes are better!
If only I had a rear camera too, you'd see him flashing lights and giving me a colonoscopy.

Can you get one that will support Mac computers for playback?

Most of them use SD and micro SD cards. If your mac doesn't have a slot for them you can get USB adapters and they will just be regular video files sitting on the card that can be played on any computer.

upgraded recently (well... somewhat of an upgrade)
to one of this ->

Bought it when Repco had a sale on it bout a month ago.

wanted to have the auto dimming feature to modernize the car. also to reduce the mess on the dashboard. AND i found out my rear view mirror was broken anyways (which explains why i constantly had to readjust it! gah! cant believe i lived with this for 3 years!)
it actually is the same unit used in Kia's and Mazda's in America. Except theirs does not have the dash cam bit. Instead they have the reverse camera screen embedded.

video is comparable to the electus dash cam i was using. but does not have GPS embedded. Instead it has 2 inputs for extra video connections(reverse camera) and it records off them too!

regret not getting another one for the Colt now. The closest i could find on ebay was either with Bluetooth or the compass but none with the dash cam recorder as well.

installation was a breeze! came with the right mount to suit Mitsubishi cars! Unhook original rear view mirror off windscreen, replace with this unit, run wiring around edge of windscreen and roof lining through A pillar and wire to ACC and on.
in my case i already had prexisting power wiring from the ETC Toll device when the car left japanese shores, so all i had to do was just connect them up!

edit: forgot to mention, if you car has a rear view mirror that is mounted on the roof, the package comes with a windscreen mount that has some uber strong double sided tape apparently. i did not try this one though...

Love the one built into the visor.

So for those using a action cam how are they going, I've read reports the cheap ones from like Navi8tor are no good.

My NAVMAN one was like $149 on sale at Harvey Norman, plus a micro sd card and you know the quality of mine and it's also weathered a hot summer.

When I upgrade I'll be going for one of the onsite cameras ones, with front and rear cameras.
Better quality, but you pay for it.

Try driving a Kia! Toyota drivers are the most bipolar c-bombs on the road... On approach they seem like normal drivers minding their own business and driving under the speed limit. Overtake them in a Kia and my god... Tailgating, speeding, running up along side you, high beams; everything.. Once they are in front of you they return to normal.

Toyota drivers refuse to have a Kia ever get in front of them. Aurion drivers are the biggest culprits of it. Angry face and everything. In the Lancer, you just get the idiots trying to race you. In the Kia, on top of said idiots you get Toyota drivers.

Best thing with the Kia though is the sensor pod just in front of the rear view mirror as its visible to anyone in front of it and having the GoPro dash cam mounted too. Freaks drivers out seeing both the sensor pod and the GoPro red and blue flashing lights (red on the front, blue on side for wifi). They think its an unmarked police car and they start behaving.
