Fuel economy's ew.

Yeah nah it goes to empty for aggges ive run it till it spluttered around a corner to see how far i could get it, around 10-15 litres left the light will come on dull when goin up/ down slopes due to movement of the petrol in the tank, and id say at about 8 litres left the light will stay illuminated all the time, wich is past empty for ages. The reason for this is so people dont run out of fuel, and running your car dry does affect maintainance such as damage to the fuel pump, gets dirt in your filter etc, etc so youve got a good 150 kms left in the tank when u fill up man, i got another 100 kms wen my light first showed. These cars are boss on fuel.

yeah same haha. i still drive for a couple of days with the light on. never failed on me ;) you start feeling a power difference though. kinda scares me sometimes how low the needle goes past the empty line

really? ive been right on empty driving home from uni one day, and the car's performance was seriously low, changing gears was really juttery and the overall feel of the car was crap! On the way home I filled up, and the car felt brilliant again. So i was thinking the car must be epically low on fuel (which didnt make sense lol)

ok this time im gonna run it right down :D my mission: to see that fuel light!!

I think my fuel economy might have improved somewhat... 60-80 km/hr driving with accelerating to 3k RPM's most of the time, sometimes pree fast, maybe 450 Km's (went for a drive and red lined gear changes the whole time so in about 1 km i lost 50km's worth of fuel :X)

travelled 535.1 kms and filled with 40.151L = 7.503L/100kms
If my petrol gauge is right ON the empty line I only fill up about 34 litres, (and that would give me about 380-400k's)
How do you manage to fill up 40litres, isn't your petrol needle like way below empty?

my fuel light was only blinking at the time.. also I stop when fuel clicky thing 'clicks' straight away..

I got 5.77 per 100km last week on Caltex Vortex (which is usually my preferred choice) with both highway and suburban driving. Equated to 580.1 km for 33.5 L. Mind you I have only modded my exhaust on my car so far.

Dang, with higher fuel coefficient does that make it more economic? Because I just use Unleaded 91 from BP?

Higher octane will burn better, and will get you more KMs, it just depends on what you buy it for. 91 is the lowest of regular petrols. But it is also the cheapest, you get what you pay for.

its debatable, i use standard unleaded and i personally dont bother with premium because it never gave me any noticable gain in kms/tank and for the +10c is not really worth it

i also dont do premium cos it feels like it doesnt flow very well thru my car, get some terrible flat spots on it comparativly to reg-unleaded

Depends again, how much are you buying your premium for,

If you gain 50kms, swapping to premium, but it costs you an extra $20 per tank.

Then your really not saving, as $20 of 91 will get you alot further than 50kms

My 98 RON tank will usually cost 50-60 bucks a week. I see it as a pretty good investment as I pretty much can get at least 600 km a tank easy. Benefits of having a 50 L tank as well I guess. The gauge is not really accurate in my car so I go by the light. Even then, I still will usually have anywhere from 6-12 L in the tank.
