Fuel economy's ew.

Hmm, well, I've noticed that my fuel has been going down alot faster as of late. It's been alot of stop and start driving and short distances and stuff, but it's been a max of 80 km/h along the ways I go... I only got 350km's to my last tank of fuel, filled it up and 1/4 went down in 50km's.. I don't rev past 3000 most of the time and I don't accelerate too fast because I'm trying to see how my fuel economy is so bad.

Any ideas?

Inb4:
- No leaks
- No engine oriented sounds (I have sounds coming from the clutch / aircon belt (when i put the clutch in it stops the sound but turning the A/C on it makes it louder)
- No overheating

Fuel filter, spark plugs and leads, air filter, etc would all be good spots to start looking...

yep, agreed with ryan
a good old fashioned service will go a long way!

keep your engine strong and healthy, and it will return the favor!

possibly a bad batch of fuel, i have had bad fuel before that has only taken my car 300kms on a tank

but a good service wont hurt;

oil change with and oil flush, and new filter
replace sparks if they avent been changed since u got the car (they are possibly fked like mine were)
run some injector cleaner in the fuel

see how that goes

Well yeah as Res said it could be just one bad batch (I forgot to add that earlier) but none-the-less if you haven't attended to any of the things I mentioned since getting the car it's still a good idea to do it anyway...

I usually get 620 ish a tank even driving around the suburbs more on highways, but yeah I like to think general maintenance is usually the key. If the clutch is making noise that's probably not a good thing either...

If the clutch is a squealing noise it's probably just the master cylinder

yeh mine makes that terrible *eerrch* every time i press the pedal
and my master cyl is fracked, black fluid... delicious
it has fresh fluid now but the container is now stained dark :p

i get 350 to a tank every time too. seems normal to me. i finally took my car on a longish drive and half a tank of fuel took it 300k's. now it's got 1/4 tank left having driven only 360k's so yea..

i get at least 500km's to a tank....thats in my aurion but....mmm $85 too fill & gotta love getting 100k's before the needle drops below full :D deffinatley dosent like driving around town but lol

If your overly worried, an injector service does wonders, just having one slightly blocked injector will make your car run richer than it should. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it.

found out it's running rich, very strong smell of fuel out the exhaust... what to do and how much would it cost >.>?

Figure out why, get your injectors flow tested, if its blocked it'll dribble instead of a nice spray wich does not burn properly inturn, or it could be a weak spark due to your leads, spark plugs, coil, dizzy cap ( if u have a 1.5?)

i reckon spark plugs and leads first, its not too expensive and will eliminate that.
If not, then get your injectors tested/serviced (maybe check their working right with a multimeter + gregorys manual first)

I really don't know where anything is and/or what to look for, or the difference between good and bad haha :p
