[/c hello guys, I decided to install a pod filter the other day and attempt to encase it in my original airbox. Now me being the cut first measure later kinda guy has realized that it doesn't fit inside it. Is it possible to get a custom airbox? If so how much and where from.. I'de make it myself but I don't knoW how to lol. Any advice?

making your own is basically going to be the cheapest option, and then you have it how u want it

here are some referance pics of some for the CE lancer
(can buy this one off import monster btw)

and TPG has this one

there are heaps of ways to construct them
alternativly u can go the full CAI

move battery next to strut tower
acquire road sign
buy some silicone and some pipe
make pod box

Paulie, where does the battery mount to next to the tower? How does that work ( thread hijack) also id recomend henrys cai man, forget the box :)

Fair sure I am going to buy one off import monster they look heaps mad. Needs to be stickerbombed though

I tried searching for that beatrush box but I couldn't find it any where. I can't make one myself because I don't have the tools to do so. All I need is a chrome metal box to fit my pod filter in. If any one can link me anything that would be much appreciated

firstly, why would you want to run your pod in a metal box ? ever thought about how hot this box will get being enclosed under the bonnet with a quite warm engine sitting next to it. not trying to turn you off but i feel its not worth the trouble of throwing a pod filter in a tin can so to speak, also there has been mention of this material type [ metal ] being not legal to use as a filter box as oppossed to the stock plastic box beleive it or not [ i can,t ] you should consider making up a CAI [ cold air intake ] which will not only look the part but also work .

In qld, you can hav an exposed pod, but it must be secured.

And of the box is aluminum ( you be stupid to make it out of anything else) then it will be all good

i dont think my battery will fit that kit, just move it to the boot

I will be running a pipe into my wheel arch and the into the box. The pod filter will be attached to the box witch is attached to my air sensor but the box will be attached to the engine bay. That's the theory any way. I need a box first but I was thinking of going to some metal fabrication warehouse and asking them to make something up for me. That would be cheaper wouldn't it?

cheaper, no. cause they would need to engineer it, a pre made one has already been done and the cost spead across there products

So long as it encloses the pod enough I doubt it'll be illegal.

Yes plastic, fibre glass or CF have lower thermal conductivity compared to aluminum but working with metals is much simpler for backyard jobs...even still I doubt it will make much difference to the intake temps once the vehicle is moving at speed...

Adding to what Ryan is saying. Also with a cold air pipe it should be kept at a reasonable temp. So does any one know where I can get a pre made box from? Or worst case if any one is skilled enough to make one I'll be happy to pay them

The question is, do you want high thermal conductivity to conduct the heat away like a heatsink, or do you want low thermal conductivity to reduce heatsoak to the inside of the pod box??

Either way its not really going to matter, if your really worried about it, why not make your pod box outta refractory ceramic?? or i can get you some fire rated board from work, only 30mm thick and will resist 1000* for 4 hours.

You'd ideally want to be insulating the intake air from the temperatures in the engine bay...
