FWIW. Just picked up a pretty clean evo 4 SRS Momo.
- Disconnected battery. Left car alone for about 30 mins.
- undid two star shaped bolts on either side of standard SRS wheel. This lets the airbag part of the steering wheel clip off.
- Unplugged horn and airbag wires.
- Marked top centre of wheel on face of shaft/spline that steering wheel nut is on
- Turned wheel to enable steering lock.
- Undid steering wheel nut - 17mm I think - until it was held on by 3 three or so threads. This stops it from smacking you in the face it you reef it off too quickly.
- Rocked steering wheel and it came off quickly/easily. Not like the piece of crap aftermarket one on my sons car which I had to beat the crap out of to make it move.
- put new wheel on spline making sure that the top centre matched with the mark I put on the spline.
- tightened up wheel nut.
- Re-connected horn and airbag wires.
- Put star screws back in on either side of new wheel.
- Re-connect battery.
- Start car from outside so if the airbag goes off for come unexplained reason from me stuffing everything up at least I don't get a broken nose
- Check that SRS light isn't on.
-Let idle for 5 mins or so.
- Take car for a drive to check that wheel has been put back on straight.
- Come home and tell son I've got a race car.
- Son glances away from Black Ops III to look at me sadly and shakes his head
Thanks for all the help guys.
Cheers
