How's it going,

I would just like to know for my ch es limited edition (velocity) can you put on lancer ralliart brake callipers, discs, rotors etc.? Are they the same size? And if not will any mark of Evo brakes fit? And if not to that too, what is the best setup for street/track use? And what will give me the best handling results brake wise that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

lancer ralliart is from a different generation of lancer, correlates to the cj generation not the ch. what wheel stud pattern do you have? i'm guessing 4x114.3 so they wouldn't even match up in that sense.

as for brake upgrades, not sure, i just went aftermarket ebc green stuff brake pads, and hadn't experienced any brake fade (no track time though)

just get the ch vrx setup which is 5x114.3, 276mm front and 260 something disk rear. it is what I did with my cg vrx to get disc on the rear but stil keep drum on hand break.

Oh right, yeah man i have the 4x114.3 pattern. I knew they wouldn't match up stud wise e.g im prety sure evos and ralliart models are 5 stud, btu hey worth a shot. Approximately how much are they?, well compared to some of that really high performance stuff anyway. Is it possible for you to link this info man?
Cheers heaps for the quick reply

Not too sure about changing over the patterns, as ive never done it, is it hard? Got any tutes or methods you can give?
Cheers aswell man

the cg lancer start off as 4x100. I picked up the complete setup for about 250. what you need to do is remove the complete front hub and switch over, and rear is the same switch over the complete trailing arm setup.
you will need flare spanners so you don't destroy the nut on the break line (Hard lines) you will also need a new set of rims I am running magna 15inch steel rims for the moment.

only thing missing from that pic is the hand break cable.

If your ch was built after 2005 it already has the vrx size discs in the 4x114.3 pattern as standard on the es.
After the facelift with engine size increase the brakes were increased as well.
There was a lot of contention about this when It first came to light but I measured my 06 es with a measuring tape and got 276 front, 262 rear.

Only reason to change to 5 stud setup is to try and upgrade even more, which personally I didn't bother with.

Oh okay,
@magnats, so if you where to swap the hubs (rear and back) with lets say ralliart model itll also work? if so how deer?
@Liom the Chef, yeah i think my model is a 2007 model as the limited edition came out in 07 with the 4g69/2.4L mivec engine. so they still have the same size rotor as the vrx ch?
Yeah i was thinking uprgrading the stud setup, but if i can get real reliable brake pads and rotors then whats the point, bare in mind the sort of driving the car does is downhill/uphill mountian time chasing.

the ralliart is a cj lancer and not a ch. the body shape is different to the cg/ch and so may use different parts like bearings and hubs/knuckles and bolt spacing.
they are 5x114.3 the same as the ch but you would need to hit up someone with one and check it out.

same size rotor yes, different bolt pattern obviously but there's 0 to be gained from swapping hubs, lca's etc unless you want to fit 5x114.3 wheels, or trying to widen your upgrade options.

Personally, unless boosting it I wouldn't bother upgrading beyond better discs, and more importantly brake pads. and brake fluid if taking it to the track.

and magnats, only the VRX ch is 5x114.3, not the ES even after the facelift like ops is. previous to the facelift the es was 4x100, after it was 4x114.3

Imo, the vrx brakes are the same as the 2.4 just missing a stud. Only reason id upgrade to five stud is for morewheel variety.. Best bet would be to try and find a twin pot caliper that works with your current disk.

Visit www.rpw.com.au and have a look at their brake upgrade

I've been recommended to put on good quality rotors and ceramic pads (mechanic friend) when my brakes need doing next. stock materials used in modern (compared to early 90s and back) brakes are not brilliant so that might be the first port of call if you are desperate to mod now.

my rotors are already getting runout after 60k on the clock so i will just keep them til it's time to change then go for something nice, slotted with good steel and ceramic pads.

[edit]: I've also considered multispot calipers but they're quite an expensive mod.

yeah all good was only talking about the vrx from the start. it would be a waste of time converting to anything from the ES.

Res can source slotted ch rotors for a good price

All limited edition meant was a different bumper and nicer interior trim
