CE Lancer Short Throw Shifter White Cup Stuck In Linkage

Hey, as seen in the title i bought a cheap ebay and was using the *poo*ty cup joints that came with the shifter. (doing more research told me not to do that lol) But, after installing it i tested it out and the metal shifter part popped out of the white cup and now the white cup part is stuck in the linkage. im able to get the metal shifter back into the cup but it just pops out again while driving. i want to take out the cup part and use the OEM ones but it seems to be jammed in hard. Any ideas on how to get it out?

probably best to remove the housing to get access to the cable.

pop your shifter cables out the front of the white housing, pull them upwards, it'll be tough but theyll pop out
undo 4 bolts holding the white housing in and feed the cables out the front of the housing as you remove it
then...pointy nose pliers? maybe? might have to destroy the cup to remove it from the cable. maybe a small flat screwdriver to force through the hole in the cup?

Yeah this might work I’ll give it a try.
I was also thing would it be a bad idea to drill and small hole through the back of the plastic linkage and try to push it out?

Isn't there like a metal clip that holds it into place?

Shifter seems to still just pop out :/
Might need to replace something i'd say than. With the metal clip in place it shouldn't pop out. I'll get a photo of mine as it's the same

Clip should hold it in like this
