CE-Evo, The idea vs The Problem.

i like what your trying to do, but i think u need to condense it down, right now you have the "big dream"
you need to sift through your ideas with a fine tooth comb and really think hard about what you really need

the evo suspension is really unnecessary, the fancy lower control arms ammongst other things, probably 1% of people will notice

your looking at your dream build right now
7-10k just for the engine in and running FWD
5-8k in suspenion and brakes
2-4k on bodykit

thats a 14-22k build right now, and it is still FWD and a lancer

not trying to put you off your build just saying maybe you should condense the list take out some of the fancy unnessecary things to keep the costs as low as possible

for example, keep the lancer suspension setup instead of doing the enormous task of the evo rear setup, add some BC coilovers instead of teins, swaybars, strutbraces (this brings you down from 5-8k down to 2-3k)

thats a fair drop in costs, and at no real loss
so use that example and skimm through your build and reconsider all of it

Buy a wrecked EVO5/6 and use everything on it and throw onto your car (dependin on damage you can get as cheap as 6k)

Means you will have genuine plastic kit, alluminium guards and bonnet

Plus interior, plus power options, plus the suspension u want, plus brembos, plus the AWD gear plus the ENGINE :)

Or you could pick up an ex rally EVO5/6 for around 5k at some places

The GF does yes :D
Im the guy stuck with the hard part of working it out for her.

Not sure how emotionally invested you are in your girlfriend but I think it would be easier for you to just get a new girlfriend. Either way it would be more financially feasible to buy an Evo, I know you mentioned against this, but consider that you don't have to spend 15K right now, you can get a loan for the car, and the money you'd be spending in modifying a FWD Lancer could be spent repaying the loan of an AWD street/track weapon.

Had to laugh at that funny *fudge*er .

Ok, so an answer to the actual question, you could obviously run Evo suspension, the front already fits, however to make it like a real Evo you need the aluminum lower control arms, and the different knuckles, with Brembo brakes, plus the swaybar.

The rear suspension of the cars is completely different. The shock/spring itself can be taken from an Evo and the lower joint can be modified to fit a normal Lancer, however the car will sit too high.
Now, the fact is that the rear of the Evo is completely different, and you'd need to cut the car up and weld in the diff carrier etc from an evo to hook the arms and so on from an Evo, so essentially you'd have all Evo suspension, minus AWD of course. The car could then be converted to AWD pretty easy though with the addition of the AWD gearbox, rear diff, etc.

i dont like your attitude you have 15 posts and are telling US the people who COULD provide feedback too not reply if we have nothing nice too say?? its as if you want too be picked on too start a e-war(i strongly advise against this)

the idea sounds so stupid and seems like somthing a L/red P plater would do because everyone is going too want a race or somthing and who's gonna look like a showponey when it goes slower then stock cause of the weight? get a evo and be done with it judging by your sig you NEED all wheel grip or a tree might appear real close real quick

but I just found this thread. I wanna play

wow, you guys are all really kicking this guy while he's down... one gf joke is funny, but dont rub it in.

he's stated what he wants to build, and although it really is not practical, it's what he wants to spend HIS money on.

from my understanding, he only wants the suspension and brakes, not the engine, hence why it would be cheaper to build from a lancer.
i dont know much about convertions myself, but i dont know why it HAS to be EVO suspension..... it's not like the struts are label'd "RALLIART"
if i was you, i would listen to res, sell whatever parts you just baught. invest in some new coils, sway bar & strut braces. burn your wallet on legit brands if thats what you're after, but our sponsor supplies equal quality products, for a very fair price. im sure brembo brakes are compatible on a CE somehow.. but since you are keeping it FWD, i would really not bother with all the hassle of using genuine evo parts with the rear, just give it a brake upgrade and dropped on the coils.

he might not know as much as alot of you guys on here, but he's at least said exactly what he wants, unlike other threads i have seen from L plater yr10 drop-outs who only type a single paragraph in the wrong thread, without pics. - and you give them less sh*t.

so how about we just help set this guy on the right path, we've had a laugh, and now know FTO is not a ford make, but time to get serious and actually give him a hand. - remember, we were all that noob once.

It's all good, TM34... we all had a big talk in mini chat last night about the question and gave him some advice, Damien understands what he's looking at a bit more now and pretty sure he knows what he's after. This is dead and buried. Might be an idea for mods to lock this thread
