How much difference in reliability and performance is there with a turbo on the 4G93 and the 4G93p?

FYI I'm always open to offers on the 4G93p I have.

first offer $10

the only real difference is going to be you maximum safe boost. a 4g93t has an 8.5:1 compression ratio whil the 4g93p has a 10.5 compression it could be lower at 9.5:1 (but wiki has the n/a dohc 4g93 as 10.5:1) this will mean you are closer to detonation on 98 ron fuel sooner. and with the rods in all 4g93's being like toothpicks detonation = BAD X infinity reliaility wise with correct maintenance and no detonation they should be about the same. do note the 4g93P will always be closer to the ragged edge due to the higher compression (advantage is better off boost torque)

So basically the DOHC ones are stronger and one of the reasons they were used in the GSR with a turbo.

Just wondering, Rigby said not all the bolts are used to hook up the GB, I thought the SOHC and DOHC used the same basic block?

NO the dohc is not stronger (it's more efficient head design) the dohc turbo as you have been told has a lower compression ratio the only differences i have found between the dohc and sohc blocks is oil squirters at the bottom of the bores to cool the pistons. the pistons them selves (the turbo pistons are dished the non turbo are flat and mivec are dome!) that is it the rest of the differences are all in the head and thermostat housings.

the reason rigby had left over bolts is the funky monkey sump his proton engine had (and he had extra bolts the he bought with him)

DOHC block is slightly different, same as GSR block basically minus oil squirters and pistons

nope dohc block and sohc block are identical confirmed myself. when i dohc head swaped my sohc. it was thought the extra idler pulley required for the dohc cam belt bolted to the block it doesn't. the oil pumps are different (auto tensioner bolts to that)

the bare block is identical it the ancillaries head oil pump etc that are different
