What upgrades are available for a gl? (performance wise).
Can get one of these, they look cool

You'll have to concentrate on aesthetics until you either do an engine swap or buy a glxi/m21

That's what I was thinking anyway. I don't want to be a pig magnet, and I really don't need to go all out on my first car haha.

I thought that too... 2.5 years later, biggest pig magnet out.

i had power mirrors, power windows AND door speaker wiring already embedded in mine.
one of them rare glxi's

Just had to fit m21/satria power windows and door trims, plug the relay and fuse into their respective locations and everything worked as if it was factory.
Was not even the end of the run of the CC series , 1995 build. Had the large foglight front bumper though.

also the firewall had JMFCA5A instead of just CA5A.

This is what it looks like right now -

I'm not sure if I should get it re-sprayed white, or leave the current paint job.

Here's some rims that I think would look nice on it & I may end up buying some.

What do you guys think of it? And should I get it re-sprayed? :p

Leave the paint, save that money and wait for a glxi/m21.

Also, those rims are 5 stud so they won't fit, unless they come in 4x100 as well?

I want something similar to them. :p I just found that picture on Google. I'm sure I'll be able to find something similar that are 4 studs.

Also, what do you think of the paint job? :p My mum and sister think it looks good haha.

Tbh what we think makes no difference do you like it?

Yeah I know, I think it's alright. I just want to know what other people think :p I'm just not sure if I should get it re-sprayed or if I should keep the current paintjob. I think it'll look good either way though.

It looks like a cross between custom paint/in the middle of being resprayed. Swings either way for me, but I still reckon you should just leave it if you think it's fine and save your money for better things :)

I bought the car from a girl, and her boyfriend is the one that painted it that way. He was just learning to airbrush at the time, and wanted to have a crack at doing something cool on the car. :p

He said he could repaint it white for me for $200 (not the whole car, just the parts that have been painted purple).

Is that a good price? And do you think it's worth it?

Is that $200 for each panel that has purple on it + clear coat? Because that would be an awesome deal. If it's just spraying some white over the purple, don't bother. It would be a case of trying to fix something that isn't broken, plus the paint would never match + you'd need to clear coat it and it would all just become a lot more hassle than it's worth.

He said he'd do it $200 for everything that has purple on it. If it's going to turn out crappy looking though, I wont bother :p It'll look pretty nice once it has some new rims anyway.

No idea what size rims to get though. :p

Stockies are 13's, the white wheels on Mikey's are 15's, the black/silver were 14's and 15spoke silvers were 17's on mine.

People seem to stick to the 15-17" mark. Any smaller and it's too small, any bigger and you get scrubbing issues, especially if you'/re lowered.

If you need the correct tyre sizes to keep the same rolling diameter so you don't throw out of your speedo/odo, http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

In terms of the width, 17x7 is fine, no scrubbing unless you lower your car. Then just go down by 0.5" with every inch of rim size. So 16x6.5, 15x6, 14x5.5 and you won't have any issues what so ever, at least at stock height.

Do you know what it costs to lower a cc? I was thinking of doing it, but I'm not sure if I'm going to or not. Depends how much it'll set me back.

Thanks for so much info by the way. You've helped heaps! :)

Just need to buy lowering springs which you can find on eBay new/used. Usually around 200-250 for a set of 4, or you can buy coilovers which will set you back 800+ easy. Low and super low springs cost the same for a set of 4 usually, and they lower the car by about 3cm respectively. You'd just need to take it to a shop and get them to fit it unless you can compress and swap the springs over yourself.
