Buying a 1994 CC GLX Lancer tonight as a first car :D

Hey everyone, just decided I would join this forum, as I'm buying a 1994 CC GLX Lancer Coupe tonight, and I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions and things to show off as I slowly modify it.

Right now it's pretty much stock, apart from an after market steering wheel, gear shift knob, extractors & a paint job. (I'll put pics up when it's in my driveway tonight).

I'm thinking about making it look similar to this one.

What do you guys think? Is this a good first car? And what else do you think I should do to it?

This is the website to buy the headlights. I bought a pair too, cost me $190 shipped to my door.

Search for Proton Wira/Satria/Putra parts/headlights or whatever, you'll find em eventually.

Congratulations on getting a 1.8, they are pretty rare around my area. I have the 1.5 cc, and it is a good car, so Id imagine the GLXi with all the extra features will be awesome as a first car. It would be awesome if you could make yours look like the example, and you have a plan as well, which always pushes you to achieve your goal.

:D Could you fix up the links to the pictures of your car? I can't see them. :(

Also, do the headlights fit without any modification?

Dunno why all the pictures in my thread are messed up, but here ya go, the final product before some old *mum* t-boned me and wrote it off.

Sorry for flooding your thread, figured this was easier than fixing the 100 links in mine :S

The headlights fit without any mods, the indicators however, need to be filed down to fit. The plastic around the edge of the indicators is easily filed away and won't affect it at all. Just a matter of filing away little by little so that they fit flush. I filed mine a bit too far cus I was impatient but they still went real good.

Found a good picture of what I mean.

Where the arrow is pointing to, that's the edge you can file down to. But if you file down to there around the whole edge of the indicator, it will be a bit too much and won't fit flush (which is what I did). Best to file down halfway, then try to mark it off with tape on the front and file it down to the mark you made with the tape.

Also, that plastic bit sticking out through the rubber, your stock indicators have that too. You will either need to cut off and stick it back on to fit in to the groove on your front quarter (what I did), or drill a new whole into the panel to accommodate it (what Mikey did). Since Mikey's worked out a lot more flush and professional than mine, I'd probably recommend his way.

That's such a nice car man! And such a shame to see it hit like that. :( What do you drive now?

Cheers for the help too. :) I'm going to be doing quite a bit of modding over the Christmas holidays, and putting in some of those headlights would be awesome!

By the way, are they Veilside side skirts? I believe I saw the same ones on eBay earlier today.

Yep veilside skirts, loved em. They were a *mum* to clean though, but that's the same with any side skirt really.

If you need any help with the installation and all that, just hit up me or Mikey and we can step you through it.

Thanks, got so much hate here for being a riceball though haha but it never stopped me. I drive a 1997 Honda Prelude now. A LOTTTT more go, but also a lot bigger and all that. I have a new ride thread for it somewhere on here... viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3564

it's also a good idea to elongate the locating hole for the indicator in the front guards.

for the head lights there is three styles.

jump on over to evocoupe.net and 4gtuner.com aswell both of these places are a wealth of knowledge. evocoupe is more cc coupe orientated there so much you can do with these little cars. most parts from an evo will fit on. then you have parts from the protons as mentioned. if you looking for the same look as evo oox you may need to contact rob as i'm fairly certain he is the only person in australia with that front bar as he personally imported it from malaysia at quite some expense. that front abr actually has a matching hood to give a very evo ten look.

Cheers for that. No idea what kind I'll get. :p

Very nice ride by the way. :) I'm a little jealous.

By the way, I now have the car, but it turns out that the owner (my mums friend) was a little bit off on the details. It's actually a 1993 CC GX. Not a GLX. I was a little bit disappointed, but I bought it anyway haha. It's still a nice first car imo. Is there much difference between the GX & The GLX?
