BOOT INSTALL!!! [HELP]

Yea and the more specialized shops are a complete ripoff. Shipping prices from overseas kills me as well. Oh well, I'll use my Sonys until something comes along:)

No really, there are a few smaller custom shops now around the northern gold coast.

So they need to compete against each other for business so you get prices from all of them.

And with autobarn, its like buying from a 4th party.
When your friends with the smaller custom sound shops, you become friends with the sales reps that come around and then you get the gear straight off them.

Some Autobarn stores sell Alpine, or at least used to when I was working there. Not sure bout Metro areas, but in the country here Alpine would only sell to one stockist per area, so that they werent competing with each other, which I reckon is a pretty good move for a company to make so that theyre looking after their stockists. It all comes down to what you're after. Alpine make brilliant head units. Pioneers have also improved lately. If u want sound quality, Morel, Focal, Rainbow etc are brilliant speakers and amps, whereas Alpine cater more for the average car enthusiast who is into good sound that they can turn right up and thrash the crap out of. Thats why the type R range is so popular, theyre strong and sound good with plenty of power.Type S is garbage in my opinion. Type X is awesome, but very expensive and will expose every little imperfection in the track as well as in the cars setup.

if you say so. some chain stores like autobarn do get there own brands and ppl that the the single store deal with, eg autobarn capalaba are the only store is the only place in qld that sells audison, hertz, morel and so on

some autobarns suck, and are just as bad as supper cheap.... but i know one ^^ that is basicly like buying wholesale no middle man. If you no the people that own it.

dude, thats actually pretty freakin epic, i might try this with slim 10's/12's
what sort of box are you using for the sub?

I'm hoping you realise that a sub requires a certain area by cubic cm to allow it to sound right, should be in the specs for the sub.
Or maybe you don't care...?

they only sony's

might look alright, and im not trying to burst your bubble, but i would hate for you to be disapointed with the sub performance after all your hard work

would it be possible to make a fiberglass enclosure behind the sub to match the curve of the car? would that be big enuf (just assumption)

Not impossible at all. Easy to do on the other hand.... Ive done a couple of boxes that Ive fibreglassed, just about to do my third for my current setup. It is definitely not easy and is very hard to get a nice smooth finish like all the pro's do. If it is just the back of the box and not going to be viewed its not as hard because it doesnt have to be perfect, but still its very messy stuff

yeah, simple stuff, to do if you know how to fibre glass, but even still the sir space need to be perfect size in cubic cm's for the sub to create the optimal sound.

Yea I may make a box, but if I don't get around to it that is okay as well until I get better subs:) I will make a fibreglass install for my next project but this is just to get use to my trunk lol.

:wtf:

What's your point? I was trying to make the point that its not easy to do well, .... was a pause. Why dont you make a constructive post instead of trying to pick apart others that werent spelt out 100%

Ah, I get it now. The tone that something is meant to be read is hard to pick up through text.

But I was just being a twit. I'm really not fussed about peoples sentence structure (though upon re-reading, yours was fine), I was just 'having a laugh'
