Az'z 99 CE Mirage

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

Yea sure...

On the distributor there is 1 black & 2 white wires (others there as well) you want to tap into the white wire NEXT to the black.
I tapped into the power (red) from the stereo as it was close to where I was mounting the tacho.
Before I soldered the wire I checked if there would be any interruption from the stereo... None..

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

OK so I hope this helps. If not I can get a better pic in the morning.

This is the plug that is attached to the Dizzy...

Your a champ!

Not sure why this didnt work for us today hahahah well ahve to try it again.

How were you sure of this wire? Done a mirage before?

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

To everyone out there,
i found the tach signal!
on the distributor, there will be a plug (7-pin plug)
looking at the plug, you have a black wire (1),
followed by a white wire (2), there are two white wires,
strip back a section of the white wire next to the black wire OR cable splice it using a connector, this will give you a tach reading,
goodluck to all

I found it HERE

Did you have the power (red) wire connected? I connected black, green and left the red as I thought it would only be for power for lights, but it powers the Tacho as well.

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

Hmmm, we were trying to get it to work on a factory gauge cluster from a lancer with a built in tacho.

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

I tried that as well a few years ago, but nothing..
Thats why this time I tried it differently.

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

This weekend I was meant to be re doing the doors, but CBF'd so installed the switch for the LED's/Neon's and got an LED interior light.

Picked up the switch from Jaycar, fitted into the hole perfectly.

No more yellow light :D

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

are you planning on putting a sub in? if so dont get 6x9's stick with these ;) until u feel the need to upgrade them

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

Yea I was planning on it. You think they would be enough?
I had a set of 6x9's and sub in my Magna, sounded fantastic, But I was thinking the 6x9's would be an overkill in the Mirage.

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

6x9s are generally used in place of a sub, if you have both they compete against eachother and the sound isnt that great

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

Interesting......
Once I get the sub & amp, I'll give these guys a bash. They sound OK now, just need the grunt from the sub.

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

nice. yeah i had 6x9s and normal splits in the front of my first lancer, they were great for sound quality without a sub.

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

Installed CAI today... Makes a difference. Only slightly, but I can feel the car isn't so choked.
Pretty simple mod, well worth doing IMO.

Thanks to all the guys on this forum for giving me the info ;)

Re: Azza's 1999 Mirage

trust me when i say u will definitly feel it in winter ;)
0*C air in the middle of the night in winter...... mmmmm
but anything under the 27*C mark is great as that is what i find is the mid mark, where u would find average power, or so my months of AIT tests showed
SRI got easy 60-70*, CAI stayed steady at 25-30* on a hot winters day, but in winter nights got down to the 0-10* mark quite easy

This is EXACTLY why I installed my pod-mounted PLX gauge... so I could tap-into and watch those AIT figures at all times....!

So that each mod, or mod of a mod, could indicated if I was doing something to enhance my power/fuel consumption figures..

Nice write-up Res.
