15 not-haves (snaked from performance imports)

uprated headlights are NOT all illegal, but some are...

gauges do not obstruct your view, if you know what you're doing and are prepared to spend the right money doing it..

lots of OPINIONATED views, no real science there...

exactly what i said

Wow.... the government must own that magazine.. because that is the most stupid and pointless article ive ever heard of.. They just give a basic mod everyone does, and comes back with a pointless excuse.

I understand the clip on pedals and fuel reg. Alloy wheel nuts fair enough if you get cheap ones, same goes for the turbo blanket.

2.turbo timer- ''there is nothing good to come from keeping your engine running after you turnthe key off, wich is wat they do, in the case of an accident they can leep fuel pumps running, the engine alive and electirc of the car powered up, wich are hazards to both you and the car. in this current age of high performance enigne oils and water cooled turbos there is no need for the turbo timer wich is why factory cars dont come fitted. - After hard driving any car NA or turbo it is wise for a cool down period. With turbo cars you can apparently get oil crystallization in the lines causing it to block and blow turbos up, instead of sitting down in your car for 2 minutes every time you hop out turbo timers makes peoples lives ALOT easier. face it if you are in a crash bad enough to rupture fuel lines, your fuel pump will keep priming fuel anyway unless you turn the key off.

3. drift knob- basically cause it can accidently ingage, they reckon u should go full hydraulic - Ive never looked at one, but i'm led to believe they just dissable the button the the handbrake and have nothing to do with the brake engaging.

4.cannon - ''less is best go for a lighter exhaust, whilst not attracting unwanted attention with a big shiny overly round stainless muffler'' - That is why companies like J's racing charge over 1500 bucks for their cannon exhaust systems, right?

5. thermofanthey reckon it wont outperform the factory cooling fan, and result in overheating ( i disagree, if your runnin a/c this is quite vital?) - My thin thermo cools much better than the stock unit and takes up less than half the space.

6. pod - ''basically all noise and sucks hot air, reduces performance in most cases. (disagree, if used on a CAI i think it benifits) - Again, this is why we always see race cars and high performance cars with stock air intakes and panal filters.

7. turbo blankets- ''can catch engine bay oi and fluid wich can cause a fire, they prefer metal heat shielding'' - i agree some cheap ones can be made dodgey and catch fire, but quality items are fine

8.silicone hose kits '' there is alot of gear for sale made out of thin walled silicone wich often rips, tears and expands under boost pressure, dampening critical response time for fuel regs.'' - again buy quality and will not have issues

9. alloy wheel nuts if the wheels need to come on and off regularly can cause binding and premature thread faulire, hardened wheel nuts are the go. - Dont know anything about them, but i assume if you spend 380 dollars on Rays alloy wheel nuts they arnt just going to fall off.

10. blow off valvesfor stock cars they see no good reason for a change in blow off unless its for psssht noises lol - That is why everyone replaces stock mitsu ones after about 100,000ks, because there is no reason to get rid of the stock item?

11. gauges- overcrowding your dash with monster tachos and others obstruct veiw, they say to keep to a minimum of what you would really need, such as peak recall boost gauge or oil pressure. Overcrouding, sure this is pretty stupid http://i39.tinypic.com/28ajajr.jpg , but Oil pressure / temp, boost, water temp and AFR are very important for high performance engines. because *poo* can get real very quick.

12. clip on pedals- they come off jam under pedals, and in most cases offer less grip. - Yeah, *poo* house...

13. piggy back compsthere are enough good programming options out there now that the use of piggyback computers that intercept the factory signals and tweak them is a total waste of time.try and retain the tuning method that keeps the factory computer close to it(think power fc) - id never recommended piggy back unless your tuner strongly suggests it and there is no way at all that you can go a standalone (ps, power fc is standalone) i think they mean NISTUNE, NEPTUNE, CHROME, HONDATA, that sort of thing.

14 upgradedlight bulbs cause there illegal? and they hate daytime runners lol - Nothing better then being able to see more at night time...

15 hardpipe kits- '' blows off intercooler piping, better to use flexible factory plumbing'' - Lets see stock factory plumbling flow as well as hard piping and hold 30+ psi like hard piping...

lol was waiting for someone to ask that, heres why they reckon you shouldnt have them (summed up)

1. fuel reg, ''there is generallylittle, if any , gain from messing with the fpr, since most performance mports have such nice big high flow units in the first instance

(ps this is all summed performance imports work, not mine, poorly summed up u could say :) )
alot of these sound like the dumb reasons a cop would give u to justify their stupid defect notices

maybe, but they cannot defect you if it is ADR approved and most of those items are... so they are just being opinionated, like most retarded bogans...

I have only the lights bulbs on this... but only cause my old headlight globes were shot through the roof...

15.hard pipe kits,929

IM JDM AS F*CK YO!

what a *poo*house article. i can understand some things, but some of them are normal, decent mods.

why are they dissing hardpipe kits?
whats wrong with gauges when they're warrented?
blow off valves? on a stock car they're wank, but my SSQ is plumbed back, only cause crap plastic oem one is crap
uprated lightbulbs? sure, i like seeing, i also bout proper projector housings for HID's
thermo fans? bottom of the barrel suggestion i think. defintatly useful on drift cars

This is why I stopped buying cars mags either they run out of articles and redo them every few months or mAke up this bullshit. basically just a bunch of chodes who don't really know what's going on and have little understanding of how things work. I'm pretty sure if you have alloy wheel nuts you're not going to be rattle gunning them off every 2nd day or using a rattle gun at all. I've seen plenty of overtightened *fudge*ed stock wheel nuts, what's the difference.

THIS ARTICLE IS FAIL!!!

who knows.. I doubt the person who wrote this list is an authority on anything, except possibly Playstation 3 or skateboarding...

Should you pay credence? NO...

not as bad as i had expected

bah.. all to be expected mate... silicon hoses are a performance upgrade, so are lights.. the rest is personal choice.
