thought this would be an interesting read for those who havnt bought this issue, see what people think about there list :)

15 not-haves.

1. upgraded fuel pressure reg.
2.turbo timer
3.driftknob(handbrake)
4.cannon
5.thermofan
6.pod filter
7.turbo blankets
8.silicone hose kits
9.alloy wheel nuts
10.blow off valves
11.gauges
12.clip on pedals
13. piggyback computers
14.upgraded light bulbs
15.hard pipe kits.

theres a bit of writing on each, lets see what you's think then ill write up their reasons. :)

why no turbo timer i thort they were fairly necesarry for the turbo to cool down slowly and not seize?

im guessing these are stuff that you shouldnt have on a near stock non turbo car then?
cos some of these you may actually need/would help on a turbo car i think

Thermo fan??

My radiator came with a fan from the factory, Ill take off mine and let the mechanical one do its job.

what about the not hooked up boost gauge on ur A pillar?

my gauge is NOT a fail... in my humble opinion!

Why would that be a fail...?

yours isn't just a gauge. it does so much more....speaking of which I want one that calculates litres per km and all that fancy *poo*

4.cannon
5.thermofan
6.pod filter
7.turbo blankets
8.silicone hose kits
9.alloy wheel nuts
11.gauges
14.upgraded light bulbs
15.hard pipe kits.

Damnit i fail at owning a car...

What's with this list and why are these have nots? I have 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 14. Pod is on the end of my CAI; car comes stock with a turbo cover because the turbo and piping sits just in front of the firewall and behind the engine - heats up like a mofo; silicone hoses are stronger and cheaper than stock and i replaced the stock with them to fix boost leak issues; have a metal recirculating BOV to replace the weak plastic stock one; boost gauge was needed to establish it was overboosting because of the boost leaks; and replaced the head lights and bulbs because I busted the adjuster on the standard one. So tell me how any of these are have nots??

I honestly have no idea what that list has to do with anything.... Please post the full article with their excuses?

lol was waiting for someone to ask that, heres why they reckon you shouldnt have them (summed up)

1. fuel reg, ''there is generallylittle, if any , gain from messing with the fpr, since most performance mports have such nice big high flow units in the first instance

2.turbo timer- ''there is nothing good to come from keeping your engine running after you turnthe key off, wich is wat they do, in the case of an accident they can leep fuel pumps running, the engine alive and electirc of the car powered up, wich are hazards to both you and the car. in this current age of high performance enigne oils and water cooled turbos there is no need for the turbo timer wich is why factory cars dont come fitted.

3. drift knob- basically cause it can accidently ingage, they reckon u should go full hydraulic

4.cannon - ''less is best go for a lighter exhaust, whilst not attracting unwanted attention with a big shiny overly round stainless muffler''

5. thermofanthey reckon it wont outperform the factory cooling fan, and result in overheating ( i disagree, if your runnin a/c this is quite vital?)

6. pod - ''basically all noise and sucks hot air, reduces performance in most cases. (disagree, if used on a CAI i think it benifits)

7. turbo blankets- ''can catch engine bay oi and fluid wich can cause a fire, they prefer metal heat shielding''

8.silicone hose kits '' there is alot of gear for sale made out of thin walled silicone wich often rips, tears and expands under boost pressure, dampening critical response time for fuel regs.''

9. alloy wheel nuts if the wheels need to come on and off regularly can cause binding and premature thread faulire, hardened wheel nuts are the go.

10. blow off valvesfor stock cars they see no good reason for a change in blow off unless its for psssht noises lol

11. gauges- overcrowding your dash with monster tachos and others obstruct veiw, they say to keep to a minimum of what you would really need, such as peak recall boost gauge or oil pressure.

12. clip on pedals- they come off jam under pedals, and in most cases offer less grip.

13. piggy back compsthere are enough good programming options out there now that the use of piggyback computers that intercept the factory signals and tweak them is a total waste of time.try and retain the tuning method that keeps the factory computer close to it(think power fc)

14 upgradedlight bulbs cause there illegal? and they hate daytime runners lol

15 hardpipe kits- '' blows off intercooler piping, better to use flexible factory plumbing''

(ps this is all summed performance imports work, not mine, poorly summed up u could say :) )
