05 CH 16x8 +20 fitment

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

possible, but you'll need 195's lots of camber, guard work and coilovers. would look awesome when done though

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

love those wheels man, nice stuff,

when i went and got tyres for my rims, he said what are you putting these on?

i said my lancer.

he basically laughed and said 'man are you sure they fit'

they mocked me the whole time i was getting it done, cause i went back and changed 205's for 195's too. now i should go rip a big fat skid infront of their door.

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

U should be able to get away with 205s providing you dont go insanely low..

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

Cheers man :)
We should organise a skid ripping day at danics then hahaha
Yeah they laughed at me to made me feel like a moron for driving 40 minutes to get them to take a look...
So Trent do you think those bc coils would be alright still?
Ill probably start off with 205s I'm not to find of stretch a little is okay though...
Now that you have all seen the predicament why should I pursue in regards to guard work
The back isn't actually as bad as the front it pokes out a fair bit but no where near as much

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

yeah man bc's are the way to go. if they're quite pokey and don't easily fit under the guards then go stiff spring rates. i think stock is 6-4, i'm going with 8-8 so its up to you to find a balance between comfort and stiffness

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

they'll fit easy. buy the coilovers, lower them to what ever height you want. fit the wheels and tyres and flare guards to suit. tyres too big? go one size smaller.

fitment isnt just a bolt on and go thing. Normal wheels are...but theyre as fun as a roofies

genuine question: did you buy these wheels thinking they'd just bolt on and be ok? or did you know you'd have a small amount of work to do to fit them (camber, tyre stretch, coilovers, guard rolling etc) ? no judgement, actually want to know

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

Nah man I did research into it and honestly thought they would fit with a little bit of work I had no idea there was this much detail In it I'm more into the engine side of things I am a bit of a noob with suspension but I'm willing to learn
A part of me thinks that the offset calculators and stuff on the net are a bit *poo*house
I'm The first to admit that my maths is bad so my calculations were probably wrong
But yeah other than that I knew there would be work involved
Okay awesome ill order the coils in a couple of weeks and get myself some tires and see where I stand after that :)

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

Cant wait to see how good it looks when done!

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

Cheers man I think it will look sweet :D
Do you guys know anything about getting wheels machined at all? Like shaving a bit off the pad on the actual wheel?
Someone mentioned it to me today and I thought perhaps it could reduce how much I will have to pump the guards

I'd also like to say thanks again for all your answers to all my stupid questions I'm thankful you are all bearing with me haha :D

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

Id say a couple of mm wouldnt hurt.. but in saying that i wouldnt do it to any of my rims so i wouldnt reccomend it.. people will have different opinions on the topic.. your best bet would be to talk to.a machine shop or take them to.a wheel specialist..

Theres a company called 'spot on' or.'spot on wheels repairs' in unanderra ive had them shave the inner hub of my wheels before.. that was $50 per rim.. but that wasnt the whole pad. That 50 included tyre removal, tyre replacement and balancing so it may be cheaper being a bare rim.

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

hey man just found this post - might share a bit of insight. im running a 17x8 +25 in the rear and im about to go to around +10 or so (probably less) because it tucks too much (srs).youll eaaasssssily fit a +20 on the rear when you roll ya guards. and im running a 205 tyre. on the front my same x8 clears easy and that was when i had a 215 on it (no stretch at all). youd be surprised the wheels you can fit under a ch's guards. but yeah, youll have to be running coilovers with a touch of camber to make sure you dont hit a dip and smash your wheel into your fender. then again... im running 0 camber up front haha

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

and one last thing - definately definately definately get coilovers AND do more research before you go stancing the *poo* outta your car. have a read on what it does to performance - what you have to do with your alignments and how stiff you have to run. seriously.

again thanks for the insight, are there threads on here you could point me to in regards to this? :)

don't think there's that much on here about it but stretched tyres and camber will give you less tread contact on the ground so it'll be harder to get power to the ground and aka not quite as good acceleration as possible. also i'm running max camber up front as my fronts stick out a buttload too and they feel awesome round corners but are a bit hard on highways to keep in a straight line, tends to follow the camber of the road and go one way or another. stiffer you go in coils, when you're on a bumpy road you will constantly loose traction so it's really only good for smooth surfaces such as tracks when putting the power down. thats about all my knowledge, sure theres more stuff on it too.

i'd keep the rears as they are and maybe shave the fronts a little if its possible. it does look mean being really pokey at the front but it can be too much and then you find yourself running a ton of camber like me haha and thats not always great on a fwd car. run like -2 to -2.5* and you should be alright

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

alright thats definately food for thought :) cheers man :D

Re: first post - 05 CH lancer About me/problems with fitment

Hey guys just wondering is it normal for this guy at hens performance to not reply to emails/enquiries?
Should I go just jap or is there something going on I don't know about?

yep pretty normal in my experience, I tend to source my parts elsewhere.
