Hey guys just quickly.
i know ive posted a few topics in here latelly, but im new to lancers and know nothing and have found you all to be very helpful and patient with me so a HUGE THANKS

Anyway i have a 04 VRX lancer sedan, i believe the Stud pattern is 5x114.3? but im not sure of off sets and sizes.
Just wanting to know..

1. how big/wide can i go without rolling guards or stretching tires or anything.
2. can i go much bigger if i roll the guards?

Im happy to roll my guards my mates a panel beater and has everything to do it for me properly,

i am working on 16x8 +20 Offset
im having a few issues if you want something quick and easy and dont mind a little scrubbing go +25 - +30 offset for something closer to tucking under the guard
i have a bit of poke

that will look so good man. hope you can get them to fit,
is there some king of formula or ration for offset to width if you know what i mean?
so you have 16X8 +20, what about 16X7 +20 ?

just promise me you wont do what i did and trust an online calculator

okay so offset is where the pad and hub meet IE where you bolt it to your car, the center of your wheel being ZERO offset any where to the outside of the wheel is POSITIVE offset and anywhere inside (toward the car) is NEGATIVE offset

THEREFORE having a thinner wheel has no effect on where the offset is and the wheel will still stick out the same amount.. if that makes sense?

sorry for the crude drawings

yeah thanks so much for that man.
so im pretty sure i understand it all, so when you increase the width its added onto the back/inside of the rim only affecting the offset if it was a negative offset wheel ?

also i would say check for front suspension clearance because where the spring sits onto the damper sticks out a bit so thats where a thinner wheel is good otherwise you will have to run some coilovers like i will have to :D

bingo

but at stock height you shouldnt have any trouble with a +30 ish X6.5 or 7 rim and being a 5 stud you have a much broader set of options than my pain in the ass 4 stud :D

yeah sweet =) im not too sure if its stock height or not it is the vrx so i assume it would be a bit lower than the base models but the rear just tucks tire and the front has a gap but it sits level

i couldnt say for sure whether the suspension is different in the vrx height wise however being a vrx it probably has a lip kit making it appear lower :) mine tucks a little bit in the rear aswell

imo to be comfortable practical look for something around a 7-7.5" wide with an offset of around 42-35 should keep you out of trouble.. rolling the guards isnt really needed unless your going for poke

yeah probably, its fairly stiff though its had the shocks replaced not long ago with some kinds of sports ones,
Thanks heaps for your help,

i want my wheels to be close to flush
so from what ive leart from this im planning on rolling all guards running a bit of stretch and go for a 6.5 or 7 wide, with +30 offset,
so your +20 wheels do they sit 10mm outside the guard?

yeah there abouts if im going to get it to be legal i will most probably need flares if i cant pump the guards well enough im gunna have to run about 2 -2.5 degrees camber aswell

i cant wait to see them all fitted up, if my lancer wasnt for my wife as a daily primarily i would love to go a real aggressive fitment, oh well

haha if i didnt have my hilux aswell i dont think id be doing such an outlandish fitment either, hopefully after this weekend she will be all kitted and fitted :D

the amount of bad information in this thread is appalling. i cant even be bothered correcting it all.

perfect fitment, no matter whether fat tyre fitment or stretched, required rolled guards. if you dont roll your guards then you cant call it fitment. end of story.

If I'm wrong man correct me I'm no expert but I'm always willin to learn :)

Your drawings and info is correct, but i think a few have the idea of "perfect fitment" all wrong

I had a feeling it might had been that's just how it had been explained to me perhaps I might have misunderstood myself
IMO jeffaz has 'fitment' but on the other hand I'm probably wrong and now that I think about if I can't think what perfect fitment would be classified as... For me my wheels and what I'm doing is what I want to do :)

I really do apologise for any wrong info it definitely wasn't intentional
