My car getting Pedders Coilovers

Well i swear i would have been better buying a evo at the rate this thing is costing me at the moment but the main thing is lucky i don't have a mortgage :D.

I've sent it into pedders today to follow up on the gutter hit a few weeks ago with a few niggling complaints(handling, wheel bearing and rear bumpstop noises) and they couldnt really find much wrong besides the camber being a bit out. I'm getting teh left wheel bearing replaced and everything else is sweet in their opinion so I've said lets do the adjustable coil-overs.

It's to my understanding that their brand of coil-overs is a re-badged whiteline?

How do coilovers react on the VRX's or Ralliarts? The pedders guy said he had a vrx and done the upgrade and it handles like 200% better.

Coilovers will always Make the handling better on any car, unless you've got some stupid spring rate.

coilovers are excellent, why not find a friend who has coils and see if you like them in their car?
why not BC coils tho? i'll be honest im not a fan of pedders

make sure you know what your getting into tho, i know my coils even on 0soft are heaps stiffer than super low springs, makes it a bit more unconfy for the daily
but i wouldnt have a softer spring rate.

I heard pedders were a re-branded whiteline product + i needed to get the rear suspension changed and having had them already do the work today for inspecting my car i decided on doing it. I also hear bc are like the same product with just a few different looking things in design. I know i got ra**** on the price though but yer.

To sum up, if i didn't have issues with my rear suspension, this upgrade would have occured mid next year after a tune, wheels and brake upgrade. :D

I was thinking when you told me earlier that they were Whiteline it was odd, cos I never knew they made them. That's because it would appear they don't.

Common belief is actually that the Pedders coilovers are the BC Racing VA series ($1200+ fitting) whereas the better BR series are only $1300. BC provide camber tops on the front coilovers also whilst I believe that Pedders charge extra... (I actually needed the camber tops to stop having ridiculous negative camber)

So your studying in the field of engineering and hangovers what does that mean to me they are going to set my cambers to very negative to cause 50 alignments a year? :D

Ummm perhaps they will use camber bolts instead? Either way just make sure you get a printout of the wheel alignment after installation, on a road going car you don't really want more than 1 degree neg camber, the more you go the more your inner edges of the tyres get scrubbed. So for someone like you who runs around abit you want be wanting costly tyre changes all the time...

Although if you havent paid up cash and committed to Pedders I would strongly think about getting BC Racing BR series ones instead off Henry....

 Engineering students have a reputation for drinking! After a tiring year of UoW/SECTE bull crap I think I deserved a few cold ones after my last exam!!

Difference is I pay $6k a year to be there....you get paid to put up with the crap :p

Ive got a CH lancer with pedders coilovers.. I must say they are so much better than stock, but if i were to look back i should have bought BC's.. Ill agree with the others here, pedders are just rebadged BC's the only difference is pedders over charge.. Pedders charged me $1400 for my coilover set + another $180 for adjustable camber tops, so thats $1580 alone for what you can have from the basic BC RED's at $1200.. Also if you get pedders to install them they'll charge you $400 (wheel alignment included). In my opinion, grab some bc's, if you r not too mechanically minded, grab a case of beer for a mate who is.. + a wheel alignment from your local tyre shop and save yourself >$300-700... :D

ive got my coilovers set on 10 in my CH (mind you they are 30k+ old) on profile 40 tyres and i found it tones more comfortable then my mirage on superlows on a 70 profile tyre..

Happy to report that although costly it put a grin on my face for every bump i hit, every corner i went through and just plain highway acceleration. It was lower than what i thought it was going to be because i love stock height when trying to park but other than that all i can say is magic. Some knob in a ford pulled infront of me on a freeway for absolute no reason at all and i pulled to the right lane to over take him and it was effortless.

I really didn't appreciate something so simple but i now see why it's a required mod especially for a sports sedan.

I'll take some photos after it gets washed. The wheel bearing replacement worked magic i no longer hear any clicking so I'm as happy as a pig in s*** and it handles well in and out of car parks for turning where before it was alot more effort thanks to the rooted bearing.

my coils are about 5-6+ years old, and been rebuilt twice, and they are tein, which are a bit harder ride than bc/pedders, your 10/30 is probably equal to my 0/17

Very true, ive only got entry level coilovers so they'd be much softer to start off with. but i still say they are much more comfortable than kingsprings.. IMO kingsprings should be left to the commonwhores!

I can do you BC Racing coilovers, the company who makes coilovers for Pedders for less with any custom spring setup you want. You can discuss with me what you are going to us the car for and I can recommend you a setup.
PM me and ill beat the price.

no mine are old teins, 6ish years old or more, before matty recieved them they were rebuilt, and i rebuild them after getting them from matty becuase of the snappage
they were rebuilt a few months ago by me 2 years ago by the owner before matty and rebuilt another time before that, so they have been around a while, the rebuild center had all the info kept on their records for them
