muffler or full cat-back?

Most important thing is though to not skimp out on a no-name muffler, ask for a lukey or magnaflow muffler and accept nothing less than that!!D
:shifty: oooopsss.........

This thread has made me consider getting a catback in the near future...

Cheers for asking the question knk, and let us know how it went either way.

i think i'm just going to have the muffler done. I would love to have the cat-back done, however as said before....it's a great start. I don't really want to go shelling out more money on the car and it seems like the cat-back alone won't provide any sufficient gains. I can't justify $300 or so just for an awesome sounding car :p

anyway....so far we've got recommendations for magnaflow and lukey mufflers. I've heard good things about redback mufflers also, anyone have any experiences?

lol man my exhaust has cost me over 1k LOL i would be cheering if it was only $300, anyways GL with the deccision & also spesifie what noise you want your car too make like do you want a high pitched noise(like a VTEC) or a low down rumble(like a WRX) because this all depends on the muffler

lol but your 1k makes sense, at least it'll get you some noticable gains.

plus, looking at your car im sure you've already invested quite a bit of money into it. everything done to mine has more been...because i can. head unit, remote central locking(never again lol, routing wiring is just frustrating), alarm, and rear parking sensors because I wanted to prove to my girlfriend that my $30 job was as good as what the ford dealer slugged her on her fiesta. Nothing pricey:p

edit: kinda want a rumble btw

 You'd love to hear how much I've spent on my car because 'I can', if it's gonna make you happy just do it! Whilst your young have fun I say! :D

Oh and if the mrs is on ur back don't tell her how much it really cost! ;)

Ohhhh I get ya, you mean't because you could DIY them, my bad!!

Yeah I did all my stereo, alarm, shift light, upgraded brakes, etc myself but I've still spent a small fortune!

lol yep, speaking of that i really needa fix my alarm up/replace it. It's only vibration activated, was dirt cheap and not loud enough lol. also are magnaflow and redback manufactured by the same company? read that somewhere....

if you want gains then screw the catback and get some extractors to start off with
not really any noticable sound differance but a nice performance gain

but they are a tad more expencive than a catback/muffler

CBF reading thread.
You're not going to notice a *fudge*ing difference with performance you morons.
You'll still have the restrictive cat, small diameter headers, and *poo* flexi-pipe.

I coulda sworn for the CJ atleast that RPW have proven via dyno results that their axle-back (ie rear muffler change only) caused a modest power increase! Even a basic CAI using the generic K&N Apollo kit made a 7kW ATW power gain from memory, despite all the bashers saying CAI's are useless and no better than panel filters....

To say only changing anything from the cat-back won't have any affect on the power or torque delivery of a car seems rather naive to me...

agreed, whether the increase is negligible is another story though. I'm pretty sure i'm gonna go for cat-back now, been pretty busy with uni so havn't been able to look around though. Anyone know somewhere to have it done in melbourne?western suburbs preferably :)

catbacks booked in @ trueflow exhausts in sunbury wednesday morn. 260 fitted with a redback muffler and a 2.5inch tip(might get a little larger)....ill let u guys know how it goes
